TTC After a Loss

BFP announcement question (NOT an actual BFP)

I've been TTC #2 since December 2008.  We had a miscarriage in October 2010 and have yet to get another BFP.  I've been posting here since shortly after my m/c.  I know that BFP announcements are painful to read and that people feel like they are being left behind.  I feel the same way a lot, depending on the day.

My question is, *if* I'm lucky enough to get another BFP, would you all prefer that I skip the announcement here and go straight to PAL?  I know a lot of you read that board to check in on past TTCAL'ers already.

Re: BFP announcement question (NOT an actual BFP)

  • No!

This board goes through this every so often....but here's the thing.  In general, the ladies on this board are truly happy for the BFPs that are announced from people we've given and received support from.  You have been a very active poster on this board, and I would hate to think you would just "leave" (although I hope you can!!) without an announcement for the rest of us to congratulate you.

Yes, hearing a BFP is hard, regardless of its from a goat or an active member.  But I think we're going too far by saying no one should be posting their BFP on this board anymore.

  • You have been here for a long time and offered lots of support...and sent me a beautiful bracelet so I would definitely love to see your BFP announcement.  I hope you get to make it soon.

  • I am curious to see what everyone thinks about this.  I personally want to know if it is someone who posts regularly that I have gotten to know.  I am really happy for those people and it gives me hope! So, I would want to know if you got a bfp.

  • I too would like to know your announcement I mean if you are a frequent poster and supporter, everyone would be supportive too. Like penny said it gives her hope and I feel the same way!

  • Ditto. It's the drive-bys and lurkers that are like a knife to the heart, NOT people who have been actively supporting and posting.

  • Ditto PP.

I think that the Goats and lurkers are a bit "mean" to post and run their BFP.However if you are a regular bumpie like we are then HELLLZZ ya I want to know if you got a BFP!!

  • I would love to see a BFP from you!!!

I wonder this myself.  Although I've actually been on this board for over 6 months, I have not actually began to TTC yet.  I just got the all clear after this AF, which she showed up on Friday, and I see my RE again this coming Friday.  What if I got a BFP right away?  Should I post on this board or go straight to PgAL since I haven't actually TTCAL for a while?

  • My answer to your question is NO. Smile

I love seeing your posts and seeing your beautiful daughter, if you get a BFP, I want to hear about it! Even though I am an habitual lurker there, I don't always have time to go lurk on PgAL - on the days when I am rushed, I just skim through the posts to see if anything catches my eye, then log off.

I, for one, would definitely NOT be offended if you posted your BFP here. I'll never forget you from my first few weeks on TTCAL with your "curly girl method" post and lots more obviously!

  • Um, no, FFG. You have more than earned your stripes, my friend. I can't imagine there's a single person on this board who won't be thrilled for you. Or if there is, I'll kick their ass.
  • I like to hear BFPs they are a little sad regardless of who they are from and I've only been here 3 months and I don't know everyone but it gives me hope when I see them and I hope after this outpouring of support you'll let us know when it happens for you (hopefully soon!)
  • I would want to hear it too! You've been an amazing support to us and we would love to share in your joy!

  • I'm not the best person to comment, since I've only been around for a little over a month, but you've always been great towards me especially so let's hope we get to see that post soon!

I'm also so glad someone asked this. i had been wondering ever since we got the go ahead to start trying. After getting a swift kick in the a$$ when I first started posting here, I'm learning my way around. I'm waiting, and hoping, and praying I get to move over soon, But if I do, I have no idea if i'm supposed to leave or post a BFP. haha, I feel like there needs to be a rule of thumb that's very straight forward. 2plus months is ok, or something like that. It's so hard to tell.

  • Now why would you do that?  I can't wait to hear your announcement on here!

There is no "rule" for amount of time you've been posting.  Its more quality of posting than quantity, IMO.

understandable. of course quality posting really comes (at least for me) after having enough time to feel comfortable commenting to others. just like any other group you gotta work your way in. lets just hope we all get those BFP's soon and a question of posting it is the biggest concern we have.
