Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How often does your baby wear blue jeans?

Hey ladies, I have a question for you. I've always put Tegan in cotton pants with either a onesie or shirt for daycare. It seemed to me that it was the most comfortable for her and it's typicaly what the other babies in the daycare are wearing. I recently received a bunch of 12 month hand me downs and in the bunch there is about 6 pair of jeans. They are super cute and I'd really like to see Tegan wear them, but I'm not too sure about her wearing jeans to daycare. I'm trying to decide if I should spend the money and go out and get a few t-shirt/onesie cotton pant combos.

I know she'll wear the blue jeans on weekends and days when she's home with her daddy during the week, but at daycare she spends so much time crawling around and playing on the floor, that I wonder if blue jeans would be uncomfortable for her. What do you think? How often does your LO wear jeans? Do they wear them to daycare?

  • DD used to wear jeans 1-2 times a week before crawling and walking. Now I feel like they are too restrictive. I think they are super cute, but not practical right now. I also find that they are uncomfortable for her in the car seat. Maybe once she becomes a more proficient walker around 2-3 years old I will start putting her in jeans again.

  • Kieran wears jeans all the time when the weather's cooler.  They look so cute on him and he doesn't seem to have a problem moving in them.  He rarely wears cotton pants or anything like that...I'm a total clothing snob.

lol clothing snob.  I kind of am too.  DS wears jean shorts a LOT... easy to move in and cute.  I bought a few pairs of jeans for the cooler weather.  He'll definitely wear those a lot... I prob only put him in cotton pants once a month or so when I'm feeling lazy :)

  • DD rarely wears PANTS much less jeans, lol. We're mostly a sleep-n-play/onesie kinda family...

We have a pair of jeans my mom bought her but now they're most likely too small. Le sigh.

This is us.  We usually only put DS in jeans if we are going to a party or something like that.  It is so much harder to change him when he is wearing pants.

  • I use the same rules for DD that I apply to myself...

If we are going out somewhere or having company we wear something nicer (including jeans)

If we are at home we are comfy (including cotton pants).  I much prefer these outfits :)

although some of DD's "going out" outfits include some fleece sets (lucky! haha)

  • DS is actually wearing jeans today. He wears them maybe once a week or so, and he doesn't have a problem moving in them and seems to like wearing them. I think they're cute!

  • All Cars' wears is jeans. I don't think he's worn cotton pants since he was 4 months old. Once he grew out of his "baby" clothes I stopped buying them.

Some days, like when  he was sick, I put him in sweat pants. Like actual baby sweats.

For clarity: he wears cotton pants as jammies at night

  • DS wears jeans all the time.  He never wears cotton pants.  It doesn't restrict his movement at all and he doesn't seem uncomfy in them - it's not like they're skin tight or something.  I like the way jeans from the Gap and Old Navy fit best.  He's not in daycare if that makes any difference.

  • I like jeans now that she is a little older.  I am a total clothing snob and like DD to look nice when we go out/have people over.  DD has so many nice clothes, and they grow out of them so fast, so I'd rather her wear them than let them sit in her closet.  We mostly only do onsies/sleepers/sleep n' plays for sleep.

    Me too!!  LOL

I put Leighton is jeans every chance I get.  They don't seem to restrict her at all.  I hardly ever do cotton pants or onesies unelss we are staying home..I am always dressing her up in dresses and such, even for daycare.  LOL

  • L has a good mix of jeans and cotton pants/skirts. She doesn't seem inhibited by jeans at all. Lately she's been wearing just a onesie a lot, since it's hot, but jeans have never seemed to both her. She crawls in them, and pulls up to stand in them just fine. She doesn't walk yet but I bet she'd do fine walking in them too.

  • Right now, never. Once she's a proficient walker, probably daily.

Pulling out DD1's old clothes, jeans really start at 12mos. DD2 has been walking for a few weeks, so I'm sure I'll start putting her in jeans soon. They just seem so uncomfortable for crawlers!

  • My DD hasn't ever worn jeans.  I don't particularly find them comfy and would love to wear cotton pants all day like she does -- that would be fantastic!

  • My little guy has yet to figure out crawling, but that said, he loves to stand and walk with help. He loves his jeans that we just got at Target, and he looks so darn cute in them. See?

  • He wears jeans all the time.  Probably several times a week.  It's been a pretty cool summer so he hasn't worn shorts often.
