I had to run somewhere yesterday for about 30 minutes and Dh was home with the girls. We have the family room gated off, well Braelyn left the door open and Carly got out. C got pissed when DH put her back into the living room and closed the door on the baby gate. C started the whole no sound cry/hyperventalting cry (which she does often when she is mad). So while doing that she stood up and ran towards the gate(proably about 8 steps). Well has she got to the gate she basically just fell backwards. DH ran in and picked her up and he said she was just lifeless, arms dangling, eyes rolled back in the head. He layed her on the table to try to get her to come too and called for my sister to come downstairs. He said she was probably only like that for 15 -20 seconds but it seemed like forever. It scared the crap out of C and DH (I am glad I wasn't home I would have been completely freaked out!) We kept a close eye on her all day yesterday and last night and seemed absolutely fine, playing, crying, playing some more, napping, everything okay. Thankfully.
We were telling our bff this and he said when his sister was a baby she would make her self passout from crying like that. Hopefully this is just a one time thing for Carly.
Re: Carly scared the crap out yesterday!
Terrifying! I'm glad she's OK.
The same thing happened to Brittney's Madi recently too, I believe.
My little sister (14 years younger) was the same way. Whenever she would cry hard, she would hyperventilate herself & pass out. It is the brains way of getting oxygen when it is deprived.
I got so used to it when my sis was little, the only time it was scary was when she was in tennis lessons (yes my mom put a 2 year old in tennis lessons) she got hit in the forehead with a tennis ball, went running to my mom and she passed out and landed flat on the back of her head. That landed her an overnight stay in the hospital for monitoring. But that was the worst it ever was and she out grew it before preschool.
