Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

2nd year molars already

DD got a new tooth about  a week ago- that makes 16 total teeth. Well, she is still gnawing on her hand, and waking up early and sometimes once a night. This is a kid who sleeps 7:30-7 EVERY night and never wakes unless she is sick. So, disrupted sleep, cranky for about 10 days now. When I give her motrin, she is a new kid.

I thought two year molars were really 2 years+.

Thoughts?

Re: 2nd year molars already

  • FWIW, We've been in the same boat for about a month. The pedi told me that 2 year molars can come anywhere from 18 months on. I feel your pain though, no fun AT all....motrin does do wonders.

  • My DD is finishing her last 2 year molar and she is 22 months.  She started teething early and cut her first tooth at 4.5 months.

Good Luck!  I hope it gets better soon.

  • I am pretty sure DS is working on his 2 yr molars for the past month.  He got his first tooth at 2 months and has been ahead with getting all his other teeth.  These ones seem to be bothering him quite a bit, whereas with most of the others, he was cool as a cucumber with them coming in.

  • DD cut her first 2 year molar at 17 months and is working on her second.
