disney hotel info?

We are visiting family in Sarasota next week, then heading up to Disney for 1 day on Friday.  Looking for a cheap hotel near Disney to stay friday night.  We will be heading to GA from there....I would prefer to find a hotel along our route back to GA.  What areas should I look in?  The sites tell you Main Gate, Kissimee, Universal Studios.....not sure where I need to be.

    I would recommend that you stay as close to WDW as possible.  If you are going for only one day, then you most likely will be exhausted after a long day.  The last thing you want to do is drive long to get to your hotel.

    If you want to be near Disney, then you only want to be in the Lake Beuna Vista area.  Universal is still about 15-20 minutes away, so I would not recommend it.  Parts of Kissimee are close, but again, wouldn't recommend.

    If you can stay on WDW property, there are some cheaper motels (Pop Century is the only one I have stayed at).  You get free parking too at the park.

    we just recently stayed at Buena Vista Suites just outside Downtown Disney.  The rooms were fairly nice - suite style.  free shuttle to the park and free breakfast (not just bagels, but pancakes and stuff).

    If you are only going to the park for one day...look into staying on property since often times there are extended hours for disney hotel guests. Also you might be able to get early check in and head back to hotel late afternoon for nap/resttime so the kiddos aren't so exhausted.
