The SAHM Book Club Weekly Check-in

Welcome,

Our Book Club is open to anyone, at anytime, who would simply like to set a reading goal for the year, keep track of what they have read so far, read up on reviews of books everyone else is reading and make your own recommendations.  You can read whatever you want, this is not a traditional book club where we select & discuss a book as a group!

For anyone who'd like to participate in these weekly check-ins and join our Google Document Tracker, reply to this post with:

*Your 2010 reading goal ("X" number of books you will read this year)

*How many books you have read so far

*What you are currently reading

*Any books you'd like to recommend

Once you read the book that was on your "currently reading" list from the previous check-in or if you toss that book aside and switch gears, be sure to mention it in these weekly check-ins as that is how I update the spreadsheet.

Shout-outs and questions from me
  • Congratulations, M&M*love, you met your 2010 goal!!!  Let me know if you want to increase it or just keep tracking your books read.

As always, for those currently participating, please go to the spreadsheet and check your info for accuracy:https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pP-G753WjUy5mJcfocJFlMg&output=htmlBe sure you check the tabs at the bottom of the Google Spreadsheet for the "Recommendations" tab if you are looking for something to read!

Re: The SAHM Book Club Weekly Check-in

  • I finished Goodnight Nobody. I really enjoyed it. Now I'm reading Barefoot by Elin Hilderbrand. I'm about 200 pages in and I like it so far.

  • awww love the new pic MrsS. Soooo big.

I finished the Scent of Thunder and Lightning. I really liked it. Was a very fast read- it kinda reminded me of the Secret Lives of Bees in some ways-

I am waiting on two new books to come- but i think i am going to start the new Nicholas Sparks book-

  • I just finished Finger Lickin' Fifteen, the 15th book in the Stephanie Plum series.  It was good.  I'm on the wait list at the library for the 16th book that just came out.

I'm going to read She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb next.  I read it probably 15 years ago and remember loving it, but it's been so long that I think a re-read is in order.

  • I read Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah this week... I thought it was a compelling story until the ending... and after I read why she wrote the book I was kind of pissed that she used it to promote a 'cause'.

Next up is my book club book for this month, Someone Who Knows My Name by Lawrence Hill.

  • I am really loving Unaccustomed Earth.  She's a very simple writer, technically, but she has so much emotional insight.

  • It has been a while since I have been on here and have to update my count... since the last time I have been on, I have read 5 more books and am currently reading, "The Art of One Anothering". I'll be starting 2 more books tomorrow as I study for the PRAXIS II - Media Specialist test.

BTW.. I Love your new siggy pic!!! Love that bed!!

  • I finished The Rescue and I really liked it. I am going to the library in the morning to check out another book or maybe 2. I am hoping to get The Help and maybe one more.

We are leaving for vacation on Friday so I will need some reading material for the beach. DH is not a big beach person so I am looking forward to laying on the beach reading while he stays in the condo with the kids taking a nap. :)

  • Swoon.  I loved Unaccustomed Earth!

I'm putting the parenting book aside and reading a novel by Anne Lamott, Crooked Little Heart.  I'm enjoying it.  I've always loved her non-fiction, so reading her fiction is pretty interesting.  But I don't usually like shifting perspectives in fiction; I'm just sort of over it, and it seems to be in every single contemporary novel!

  • Yay I met my goal! I would like to add four more books to my goal.

I put Harry Potter aside and read Solve Your Childs Sleep Problems by Dr Ferber. I know that CIO is a hot topic but I figured if I was going to do my research then I should research both CIO and Non CIO. I am happy I did. DD fussed, she never cried, for 15 min and then slept all night. She also takes naps now. It is a miracle! lol

  • Hi, my goal is one book per month. I finished reading "The Nanny Diaries" last month and it was great. Now I'm reading a book I found on sale at Walgreen's, "The Observations". It's also great. Funny how there are so many unknown authors out there that are truly talented, sometimes more so than the bestselling authors. I guess it's not what you know but who you know, as always!
Me: 44 DH: 42. DS born healthy at 40 weeks 8/24/09. TTC since then with no luck or ART. Surprise BFP 8/6/14... MMC @ 8 weeks 4 days... Miss you everyday sweet baby angel.
  • I finished reading Water for Elephants and really did love it.  It was just soo different to me, and I loved learning new things - like about the old traveling circus'.

I am now reading Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts.

  • I finished Matters of the Heart. It was good, but not one of her best. I also read The Gift by Danielle Steel...this one was so much better.  Now I'm working on Can you keep a secret by Sophie Kinsella.

    Happy Reading Mommies!
