How soon can you exercise after your D&C?

I want to start exercising soon. I've gained some weight since I got pregnant.  Silly me, I thought I might 'lose'  some weight after my D&C....no luck. 

I asked my doctor and she said nothing too strenuous.  Brisk walks and light weights.  I really would like to lose 10 lbs in one month --that's a healthy amount--but if I don't start exercising soon, it might not happen.

Anybody working out fine after their D&C?  How long did it take you?

  • My doctor also said nothing to strenuous, so I did some light stuff starting about 5 days after D&C. I have some leg cramping, though, afterwards which I thought might have been related the the heat at the time. I made sure to stretch and drink lots of water and seemed fine. I'm hoping to loss about 10 lbs too, but I don't know if I'm putting forth my best efforts lol! Good luck!

  • I am going to start back at the gym tomorrow - 2 weeks post d&c. I did some light walking but have been more focused on getting my eating back on track first. I did some serious comfort food eating for a couple of weeks there - and I paid the price. That price was about 10 lbs!! So, some of it has come off since getting back into my classroom and going back to eating lots of fruits and veggies, lean protein, and whole grains. Next step, back to spin class. Too bad I told one of my spin teachers I was pg. Hope I don't see her anytime soon. :(

  • I had my D&C on Thurs and was told nothing too strenuous for a few days.  I took a few walks since then but was hoping to start jogging tomorrow.  I must say I have been much better about my eating...for once I have not gone down the depression = eating road.

  • I waited a week before i started back exercising. I walked 1-2 miles 3x a week. I waited about 2-3 weeks before I started back using weights. walking 3-4 miles and doing pilates.It helped me emotionally as well and i lost 10 pounds within a month back to my original weight.
