How much do you spend in groceries? Again.

I know this has been asked countless times.  We are now spending about $150 per trip, I go about every 9 days or so.  Not exactly a week.  DH thinks we are spending too much, but we are feeding a family of FOUR.  Between coupons and sales, I save right around $100 each week ("too much" according to Price Chopper, they make me get a manager's authorization).  My cart is always over flowing and it seems like so much.  But when I get home and put everything away, it seems like there isn't that much.  This doesn't even include paper products and bath supplies, I buy those at BJs.  Usually about $130 every two months.  Diapers I have been buying on Amazon, can't beat $26.82 to have a 160 pack cruisers delivered to my front door.

  • We spend a lot and it's just on two people for right now. :( We buy mostly local and fresh foods that are grown without the use of hormones, antibiotics, pesticides etc.

I went to our farmers market yesterday and spent about $90. Of course I was also buying extra so I can freeze fresh produce for winter soups, stews, roasts etc. It saves a lot of money having my local veggies frozen. You should have seen what I got for $23 at one of my vendors, I had two heaping bags of veggies...it was awesome :o)

When we go pick up our meats and whatever household items, we will prob spend another $30-$50. I really need to coupon hunt for the household items because that is the only place we can save. Our typical amount we spend it about $80-$100 each week year round.

  • That's a good amount of savings! Your husband should be proud!

We spend about $60 a week. All 3 of us have breakfast, lunch & dinner here everyday (well DH's is packed). We don't really eat any red meat, our garden did really well this year and I buy most things store brand. I spend a lot of time meal planning but the same thing happens to us. I feel like I get SO much but then there's "nothing to eat" 2 days later.  Diapers, cleaners & paper products I buy at CVS, Walmart or Target- probably about $50- $75 a month.

  • About $300-400 a month.  I use coupons when I can, buy Wegman's brand whenever possible, and shop local farm stands, etc. for produce when convenient.  We buy a lot of organic, especially meat, so that ups the price.  I think that you are doing great.   Have him do the grocery shopping once and see what happens?  It is hard, because healthy food costs more, so I am willing to sacrifice some bucks for that.  We do shop Aldis for some of the staples too.

  • I wish I could swing $60 a week.  I used to spend about $100, but then it just sort of shot up.  I don't seem to be buying much more than I used to so I dont get it.  I wish I had a garden.  We had one at our old house, but every year the animals would destroy all the veggies before we could pick them.  We didn't feel like trying this year.
  • We spend between $100-150 a week.  I am not a good couponer (is that a word?) but I buy pretty much all Wegmans products.  I only buy organic milk, produce and meat so that bumps up the bill.  We are really good about menu planning every week so no food goes to waste.  I also go to the farmers' market once a week and spend between $10-20 there just so that we have fresh fruit and veggies throughout the week.  Thankfully, we no longer have to buy diapers and a pack of pull-ups lasts a month since Eva only wears them at night.

  • I spend around $70-$100 a week, depending on what we need. If something is on sale, I stock up. I try and keep it under $80 though.

I use lots of coupons and buy store brands. I do buy some organic, so that always ups my bill.

I usually spend about $10-20 at the farmers market each week on fruits and veggies.

I need to get back into meal planning, and stop the mid week trips to the store to grab one or two things. Last week I needed DH to stop and grab hamburger rolls and a bag of salad on his way home from work. He spend over $20! He ended up getting ice cream, peanut butter (he thought we were out, but there were 2 jars in the back of the pantry), some dressing (that we didn't need, I usually make it to save $), gum and who knows what else. I told him I was never sending him to the store again!!

  • I have no idea how much we spend...but it is way too much! Esp since we grab something out at least once a week.
  • We spent about $50-75 a week.
  • We spend about $100/week. Less in the summer/early fall because we have a CSA. I also buy mostly organic & store brand when I can.

I used to be good about using coupons but have been slacking. It is almost a waste of time when there are so few that I use.

  • Not much.. Some weeks I don't even grocery shop.. some weeks I go twice.. but I don't cook at home often at all.. so I just need stuff for Eve to eat and maybe lunches for me... and basic staples.. I'd say it averages maybe $60-70 a week.. this week was more.. because I made one trip earlier in the week that was mostly stuff like cleaning products and some pantry type stuff, then i went again later in the week for actual food.  So this week was like $90..

  • We don't spend a lot-maybe $50/wk on groceries for the 3 of us (and that's with hardly any coupons). We don't do elaborate dinners though and I don't meal plan at all.  Paper stuff we buy in bulk at Sams or I'll get big packs of stuff at Target. Diapers I buy the big boxes at BRU/Target and usually stack the coupons if I can.
  • We spend roughly $120.00/week at Wegmans but then we also go to Target on average about 1x/week.  We usually get our diapers and formula there.  I would say a normal Target trip is about $50/week.
