Anyone else not budget for all the small things like batteries for the swing, chair, mobiles, noise makers?
It seems in the last 2 weeks DH and I have spent crazy money on things we never concidered, like treating my thrush was almost $100 on medication, extra pads. My maternity pay has yet to come in its been a month...
We are surviving, but wow it adds up.
Re: Anyone else going broke?
Oh yeah! LOL I went back to work early because of it. Only a week early, but it's one less week unpaid. The few things that help (a lot!) is family watching DD while DH and I are at work. My MIL will bring home free cans of formula from the dr's office where she works at. I also pump so she gets about half BM and half formula.
We also have an 8 y/o and the school shopping hurts more every year. Last year at this time he was in a 7 slim, this year? Size 12. Once Upon A Child second-hand store is my best friend when it comes to his clothes. And DD's clothes for that matter.
It doesn't help that I haven't gotten a full paycheck since May and we didn't anticipate that at all.
I can totally relate. And to think at one point, we planned on me staying home. Crazy!
I took a total of 9 weeks off (2 weeks per delivery - put on bed rest and 7 weeks with DH). My maternity leave was unpaid, except for the vacation and sick hours I had (which was about $400).
We only get paid once a month too (both me and DH), so I came back to work Aug. 30 and will not get a paycheck till the end of Sept.
It amazes me how much everything costs. We looked into getting some assistance for the 9 weeks I was off and they said we made too much - which, trust me... we make enough to pay our bills and have a little left over. We live in our means. Just frustrating.
