NBR Teenage DD related (again!)

I should probably post these on a different board, like that school-aged one, but this is the board I spend the most time on. I hope you guys don't mind the occasional teenage daughter post.

Anyway, my 14 year old has a friend spending the night.  It's almost 10:00 and the baby had been sleeping for over two hours.  The girls are downstairs watching TV and laughing, screaming, wrestling?, I'm not really sure what is going on down there.  The noise comes right upstairs throught the vents and whenever it gets too crazy, I go down and ask them to quiet down. Dylan gets restless each time. I don't want to embarass Paige or make her friend think I'm a big meanie, but I am ready to blow my top!

I'm about to make them go sleep outside in a tent.  If only it weren't getting down in the 50's at night....

I guess this was baby related.

Re: NBR Teenage DD related (again!)

  • heh. I've been the meany. My sister stays with us a lot and her best friend stays here too. I've threatened them many times. We live in a tiny apartment and K is a bear if she gets woken up.

As I tell my sister : If you wake her up, you can deal with her screaming.

  • Why not pull Paige (LOVE the name, btw ;)) to the kitchen and tell her that she needs to quiet/calm down or else sleepover privileges will be revoked?
  • Try taking DD aside (not to embarrass her in front of her friend) and just politely tell her that she needs to be respectful of the other people in the house, mainly, new baby. Remind her having friends over is a privilege, not a right. If she continues, next time she asks for a friend to come over, remind her of this incident and say no.

This is what my mom used to do to us, worked wonders. Good luck :)

I like that idea. It will make them think twice about their noise level.

I agree. Pulling her aside will lessen the embarrassment but you can get your point across.

THIS! And advise sleepovers at other friends' houses until LO is a better sleeper!

The last time I went down there I told them that if they woke him then they were going to be taking care of him.  They've turned it down a notch, but just a little notch.
