procedure for car accidents and pregnant

hey. Just checking with my military girls!

Has anyone been in a car accident and then seen at their mtf afterwards?

I didn't go last night. I was rearended, but no pain or contractions or anything (other than normal BH). I have a sore neck. But just didn't think I needed to go to the ER. I called the doc today and they said I have to go to the ER. They wont see me at the OB clinic.

UGH! Have ya'll experienced this before? Did you have to go to the ER and what did they do? Is it a quick doppler checked, did they do an U/s?

I'm not sure if I should bring my husband, if I'll be there all day or what.

Thanks!!!

  • If I were you, I'd go in to the ER and if it'll be a while, you can call your husband if you want his company or support.

Your OB probably doesn't want you to go in there because if something is wrong, it's faster if you're already there to try to help out than to be at his/her office and then rush you to the hospital/ER.

  • I was rear ended about a year ago (not pregnant) and was required to go to the ER.  I had pain in my neck, but nothing severe.  For insurance purposes, I had to go and get X rays and have in writing whether something was wrong or not.  I don't know how this changes with being pregnant, but I would go to the ER if I were you just to get everything documented.

  • I too would have gone to the ER.  You just never know.  Plus, whats a few hours in the hospital when you get to know everything is ok!

  • I agree with PP. I was 13 weeks pregnant when DH and I were Tboned in a focus by a Suburban. He was airlifted to the hospital, I had some bruises, but it gave me peace of mind to make sure my baby was still bouncing around in there. My OB had me come in that same week once I was seen at the ER to follow up, but that was about it. She did an ultrasound to confirm the baby was okay.
  • I was in rear ended at 27 weeks. I felt perfectly. I decided to go to the ER anyway. I was contracting and didnt even feel it. They kept me over night. It was really scary and im so glad I went. They told me often ladies dont come in because they feel fine but alot of times they are not. A big fear is placenta abruption. PLEASE go get monitored. As far as I know, at least for my hospital, they monitor you for 4 hours and then you can go. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
