I'm so excited! FF gave us a timing score of "good" and a test date of September 20.
It says that my test date is further away than usual since this is my first cycle charting so my luteal phase length hasn't been determined yet. 10 DPO is the usual wait time, right?
Re: First CHs for me! HPT question
CD10 is very early! Here's what fertility friend says about it:
When should I take a home pregnancy test (HPT)? When will an HPT give me a positive result if I am pregnant?
You need to know when you ovulated before you can reliably determine when to take a pregnancy test. Your BBT chart can help you determine how many days past ovulation you are. You can take an HPT when you are past your usual luteal phase length (the time between ovulation and when you get your period) but if your usual luteal phase length is shorter than 13 days, then you should probably consider waiting a day or two longer.
Once you have a full cycle charted in Fertility Friend, a reasonable test date will be proposed to you based on your cycle statistics. If you do not have a full cycle charted, the software will recommend waiting until you are 18 days past ovulation to avoid the disappointment of early negative or false negative results and wasting tests.
Whether or not you test earlier than is recommended really depends on your attitude towards seeing negative or false-negative test results. In general, results are usually accurate once you are 14 days or more past ovulation but if you want to avoid wasting tests and your luteal phase length is longer than that, or you do not know your usual luteal phase length, waiting a bit longer is recommended.

I got my 1st CH's the other day too & I was pretty excited. It says to test on the 16th if no AF, which is the day before my birthday. A BFP would be the best b-day gift, but I'm not getting my hopes up as this is our 1st cycle.
Good luck!
OMG we are so similar! FF wants me to test the day before my birthday too, and it's our first cycle as well! Too funny! Here's wishing us both good luck

If you're like me and can't resist the urge to poas, go ahead and test 10DPO, but know that it is very likely you'll get false negative (or a real negative, you just won't be able to say for sure). You might be setting yourself up for disappointment.
Good luck!

Besides the risk of getting a false negative, there is another reason you should try to hold off to test. The earlier you test, the more you are likely to catch a chemical pregnancy, which can be devastating. And testing early just means a longer time during your pregnancy to worry about m/c! So keep that in mind if you decide to test early.
Of course I POAS at 11 DPO so what do I know?
That is funny! Good luck again & Happy Birthday!
Thanks for this info! It's so hard to resist not taking a HPT at 10dpo though...
I got CHs today too. Welcome to the 2ww! If you don't know your LP, you should probably try to wait until 14 dpo to test. Lots of people on this board (myself included) just get antsy and test early.
I usually start testing at 10dpo b/c I know my LP is sometimes 12 days--so 10 days is not as early for me as someone with a 14 day LP. GL!
