ideas for getting jewelry off before surgery???

Ok, so I can't get my engagement or wedding ring off, and am scheduled for c-section Wed.  My doc told me yesterday that I have to get them off or they would be cut off.  I don't want that, any ideas to help get them off?  My fingers are a little swollen, but not so much that they won't move.  Any ideas would be great!  Thanks!

    Soap usually works for me.  Soap them up really well and they should come off.

    I usually just wet my hand and then kind of twist them while sliding them up.

    Take a string and wrap your finger tightly from the ring down your finger a little ways.  That should redistribute some of the skin for it to slide off.  You could also try icing your hand - usually fingers will shrink up in the cold.  GL!

    WINDEX!  The ammonia makes your tissues shrink a little and it's a trick commonly used by jewelers.  That's very mean to tell you to take it off.  I wore jewelry during my c-section and I never make my patients take theirs off.  If you need to get it removed, go to your jeweler.  A jeweler will damage it less than a hospital.

    No suggestions.  But that stinks that they are forcing you to remove them.  I have a ring that has been stuck for years and years and I have had 3 surgeries, 3 different doctors/surgical teams..etc. (2 of which were c-sections) and had absolutely no issue. Once I told them it was stuck they really didn't say much else.
