the twinks came home COVERED in paint from head to toe including their hair and shoes on wednesday. I was NOT happy. All over new sneakers...
I spray and washed, soaked and washed yesterday... nothing its all still on their clothes. FFS....
so I pick up yesterday... covered in paint AGAIN and I asked what the hell kind of paint they used becasue sure as sh*t it wont come out. their answer: LATEX.
really? like home depot latex paint.
I went upstair and laid into the director. I told her i was pissed, its inapprorpiate, and she should have asked out permission before such a messy project. (painting the outisde play house) I surely would have sent them in crap clothes.
she offered to pay for it all. add it up and its 150-175 of brand new stride rite sneakers, gap jeans and polos... x 2 days...
Come home, kids sccreamed all the way home, tantrummed when the sitter showed up. just not themselves. I took their temps G: 101; A 99.7
Tony skipped preschool orientation and relieved the 16 yr old sitter who didnt feel ok with G having a fever after the seizure 3 weeks ago.
gabe puked up dinner.
tony was livid and refused to send them back today for their last day. He just stopped by on his way to work and gathered all their things.
I emailed the director that I was still furious and listed the costs to replace everything. The upshot: stride rite outlet this weekend... the downside... 60 bucks out for another pair of sneaks per kids. and jeans. (they were last years jeans, but still fit fine, and I had planned on using them for daycare until they out grw them...)
I am so grateful to be DONE
Re: and the icing on the cake....
well considering that her home is going into forclosure and she cannot pay her staff (all reasons we opted to leave) I am not going to push it. she broke down sobbing yesterday at the realization of the error... I am still furious.
If I get a check from her, super, but right now, I know tony feel strongly about just moving on.
Pissed... but we are fortunate enough its not going to break the bank, its just a PITA... (but maybe I will HAVE to go to N Bend and check out coach as well as a consolation prize)
I can't believe that a day care provider would even think of giving toddlers latex paint to play with. So unbelievably inappropriate. I am not a litigious-minded person but I would seriously entertain the idea of suing. I would be so, so angry.
well i wont feel bad about all the yelling and stomping I did yesterday then!
Tony is most concerned about the chemical exposure, not the clothes... and I am too....
I mean, come on... even outside... we are re-doing the kids rooms and will be doing low/no voc paints
I'm really glad you guys are done with this daycare - I'm totally annoyed for you.
I seriously think you should call in a licensing complaint. Children should not be coming in contact with latex house paint. If that is her judgment then all of those children are at risk.
I have to say, I feel your pain. We yanked DS out of our first daycare 3 days before his anticipated end date because things had deteriorated so badly and we were just done with that lady. It's stressful.
EDIT: Feel free to PM me if you want information on how to make a licensing complaint.
