Registry list for AP

We are headed to the BRU to start our registry today, and I'm hoping to get a list of "essentials" and "would be nice" from AP parents - the list that is available on BRUs site is definitely geered towards the status quo parent, and I'm afraid I might forget something or not realize how important something is for AP parents.

Re: Registry list for AP

  • Moby, Ergo and Arm's Reach co-sleeper are on BRU

  • Yeah, I'd say Moby too.  And since AP and BF often go together, I'd say that they have all kinds of breastfeeding accessories too, like the boppy.
  • Thanks ladies!  We will definitely be exclusively BF.

I bought a Moby off a friend's registry last week for her shower and it looked great.  Glad to hear everyone else recommend it!

  • If you BF you might like "My Breast Friend" (BRU)  I had one and LOVED it-- is was absolutely my #1 essential infant item. Next, a moby or carrier & cosleeper as others have suggested.

You might also look into a small white noise machine.  I had a Sleep Sheep and while it worked wonders putting my baby to sleep, the longest time interval it would set to was 45 minutes-- basically it stopped making noise just as my baby was finishing 1 sleep cycle-- so she would wake up INSTANTLY the moment it turned off.  Sooo....a white noise (shhhing) machine that can stay on indefinitely would be nice.

Some AP (I think) books I like:  The Science of Parenting and The Happiest Baby on the Block.

  • Register for ?travel? swing/bouncy chair. It?s handy to have something for moments when you really cannot wear LO, but you don?t have to make the huge space commitment of the regular item. We kept one folded most of the time, but close at hand. Pick out one that you can open one-handed!

Boppy. I swore up and down that these were unnecessary before I had DD. I owned two! They are so helpful.

Nursing stool. Seems pointless, but truly makes nursing more comfortable if you have short legs. It?s a useful little stool for other purposes, too.

Ergo, ergo, ergo, ergo, with infant insert. Does BRU sell these?

100% agree! I'm using mine right now, actually...

  • i haven't had my baby yet but i have the arm's reach cosleeper [we set it up a couple of months ago] and i can already tell i love it. i was surprised at how well-made and sturdy it seems.

as far as essentials, i'm sure PPs covered it but if you're into organic stuff, you might do an "organic" search on their site- i was impressed with how many organic baby items, toys, etc. they had [most were online only, though]. these onesies [esp. the ones with color trim] are soft and even cuter in person, btw!

as far as white noise, you might opt for a sleep sheep or something similar because studies show that continuous white noise and prolonged use can impede hearing development, mask tinnitus, etc. the sleep sheep has a heartbeat sound that should work well without being a constant stream of noise. you might want to at least read about that before buying anything.

eta: if you're planning on EC at all, these potties are pretty highly recommended.
