silly question about blood test results

Hi ladies..

Silly question... the doctor's office just called and left a message with my husband confirming that the results of my blood tests showed that I am pregnant (yay). Then when my husband asked how far along I was she said the tests showed a level range of 1313... does anyone know what that means??? My husband could have messed the message up, I suppose but I have no clue what a range of 1313 means...

  • Is that your beta level?

  • possibly...? I wish I had been the one to take the message! Do you think she meant 13-13 or 1,313?? Any idea how far along that would be?? Thanks for your help!

  • If it's your beta/hCG level, it would probably be 1,313 more than 13.13.  You can't tell how far along you are by the level.  But just for comparison purposes, my last beta was yesterday.  I was 5w5d along and it was 3,396.  It is supposed to double every 48 hours-ish in early pregnancy.

  • I'd be concerned about my doctor giving out my medicall information.  Unless you signed a release to give out the info they broke a law.
  • The number really doesn't mean anything.

It's all about the rate of increase.

Most OBGYNs ask you to fill out a medical information form, which allows you to grant access to medical information to your spouse. I filled one out on Monday.

Ditto. That was one of the first forms my RE and OB had me fill out. Who can get the info and can they leave it on a cell and home voicemail, etc

  • Yes I also filled out a form giving permission to leave messages and info with my hubby.
