Baby wearing mamas ? for you

I didn't know if I would like wearing LO but have found out I do!! I have a sling type carrier(homemade) for him. It was great when he was a newborn, but now that he is almost 12lbs. I need something different...what do you recommend?  I am thinking I would like one that allows LO to sit in front on of me..not off to the side. Another question...is there any that don't kill your back??

Thanks so much

Tammy

  • i love my sleepy wrap!  there are a few different ways to hold LO with it.  he loves it and i am able to get some things done throughout the day.  www.sleepywrap.com

and i am able to walk the dog along with my DS since my dog is afraid of the stroller.

  • I have an ergo and absolutely looove it. My only complaint is with the infant insert it gets a little hot so I also have a balboa sling which is also great. He can sit facing towards me or out or he can be in a cradle hold. The great thing about this sling is you can always see his face and his head is not actually in the sling. I find both very comfortable and dont hurt my back or shoulders at all. GL
  • I have a Beco that I really love.  You can do a front or back carry with it and it's very comfy.

  • We've tried/had the moby, ergo, a sling and an ergo and of all those, the ergo is the most comfy and will last the longest. DH can still wear our oldest (4) in the ergo comfortably.

  • Another sleepy wrap vote here.  I get my grocery shopping and some housework done while wearing her.  It's never hurt my back and I have scoliosis (mild) and slightly uneven hips.

  • I had the moby, which looked pretty dorky on me, lol. I got a Bjorn and love it. I've only used it for a day, but I've been able to do so much with two free hands!

  • I've worn both kiddos.  I think the Moby is the most comfortable, but it doesn't last too long.  With DS#1, I stopped using it when he was about 15 lbs and started using the Ergo.  With DS#2, I didn't want to use the Moby since it seemed too hot in the summer, so I got a mei tai (Kozy Carrier brand, but BabyHawk is another popular one), which I love love LOVE.  It's as comfortable as the Ergo, but you don't need an infant insert because the back comes up high enough to support LO's head.  I don't know how it'll be as DS gets bigger, but once he has good enough head support, I may just move back to the Ergo...  In my humble opinion, the Bjorn stinks.  (Yes, we have one of those, too...  I'm an addict...)  It is REALLY hard on your shoulders once LO gets a little bit heavier.
  • I LOVE the moby wrap.  I used it all the time until my son was 7-8 months old & continued for awhile after that, but once he got mobile he was ready to go.  It distributes the weight pretty well & I really like it.
  • Beco butterfly 2!!!!
