NBR: My worthless Ex-H

He had a court date today for contempt of court for not paying child support for our 14 yr old daughter.  He didn't go.  He does this crap every.damn.time!  All they do is issue a bench warrant and unless he happens to get in some kind of trouble and the cops run his name, he's pretty much scott free.  It really p!sses me off!  He said that he is "anti-government" and doesn't appreciate them meddling in his business.  I asked if he was anti-supporting his child and he said that he just didn't like to be "forced to do it".

Um...what?  I can't stand that man!  I wouldn't have to involve "the government" and force him to do something if he would just man-up and contribute to supporting our child.

Sorry, just had to get that off of my chest.

  • DD #1 is 12 and I have had the same problem with her dumb a$$ dad! I had to go through the state to garnish his wages because he wasn't send me any child support. Once they would track him down and start to garnish his wages, he would quit his job! What an a$$. Then after a while he realized he could just work under the table and they wouldn't be able to garnish his wages. He's so stupid that he thinks he should only have to pay $100 a month. Anything over that is just lining my pockets.

I loved it when they garnished his wages!  But, like yours, as soon as he figured out he could work under the table, that was the end of that.  Now he just tells them that he doesn't work at all.  His support is $50 a week, it's like the least amount you can pay and then has extra tacked on because he is so far behind.  Back when they were garnishing his wages, whenever he saw I had something new or had my hair done, he'd say "I'm sure I paid for that"  Are you freaking kidding me?  Back then that money didn't even cover half of what I was paying in daycare, let alone afford me any extra's!

Nope.  The paperwork says that they can suspend his DL, but they never have and I don't even know if he has one anyway.  He breeds dogs, but the business is in his Mom's name and then he works on the side for friends that own business'.  I'm pretty sure he doesn't pay taxes or report any income.

  • I'm sorry that sucks :( My dad always did that with my mom and he ended up getting out of a year of payments with us 3 by the time my brother graduated. So ridiculous.

Been there, done that. Mine is suppose to pay $350 a month and he doesn't pay that. He thinks because there are girls that he knows (in ND) that receive only $100, that's all I should get. The cost of living in CA is outrageous and $350 doesn't pay for sh!t.
  • I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Some men just don't get it.
  • My Daughters father never paid. Then he tried to get out of a speeding ticket by running a red light before the cop could turn around to get him and he got hit by a furniture truck. Then the govt told me he didn't pay in enough to social security for her to receive death benefits so she got nothing (going on 7 years now).

  • Yes, it took 3 years to get him into court. He met her got the first time when she was 3, he died when she was 5. We had been together for 2 years when I got pregnant and he just freaked and ran away. Only blessing was she never really knew him and I was used to supporting us alone.

  • Can you call the police dept & tell them you know where he is since he has a warrant?  My SO's brother had a warrant for a DUI a few years ago & the police just showed up at his house one night & arrested him.  It had to have been a tip off.

I've tried that before, but he lives in a different county then we do, so our cops won't cross the county line.  The county he is in is really small and they say they are too busy to drive to his house and see if he's there.  The State Police won't get involved at all.
