Potty Training

random regression?

I need to be cheered up. I thought DS was doing so well - despite being poorly at the weekend, he seemed to catch on a bit. He still wasn't telling us when he needed to go, but after 2 (?) weeks he was accident free for 5 days, holding on for a good few hours, and weeing larger amounts at once.

Yesterday afternoon and today ahve been disasters. He is massively cranky. I can't do anything right. And he's weeing left right and centre - but never in teh potty.

I konw I've been short tempered with him - he's been such a handful this week, DH is away with work and I'm so tired of the constant fussiness. But I've tried to still be super upbeat about accidents, weeing, giving stickers, etc. I just don't know why it's all gone wrong today.

Re: random regression?

  • First, he's young- be proud of what he's accomplished so far!!  Is he teething?  You said he's a bit grumpy- maybe he's learning something new.  Just try to be upbet and not get upset over the accidents.  Perhaps for a few days take some pressure off him (and you) and instead of waiting for him to tell you, just take him every 1-2 hours.  You have to remember at 2 they have a lot going on in their minds and sometimes stopping in their busy schedule to go potty just isn't possible ;0  Not to mention, sometimes when they master a new trick they get rusty on it, just don't worry about it and chances are tomorrow he'll be back on track.
