Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Ummm..WTF??

Today as I was leaving the dressing room at TJ Maxx the attendant made a comment like "so many babies!" I asked who's was the other baby she was referring to and she told me some lady asked her to watch her baby while she tried on her clothes! The baby was about 7 months and was perfectly happy in his (or her??) travel system. I know there were family dressing rooms there so I find it VERY strange that she asked a random person to watch her child while she tried her stuff on!!

And earlier today I had to run in to drop off some consignment. DD was sleeping and right before I woke her up a random lady asked me if I wanted her to watch DD while I ran in. I politely declined. I just can't really imagine doing that!

Re: Ummm..WTF??

  • Yeah..no.

That's weird! I would never let a random person hold DD while I went into a dressing room!

  • I can not imagine any situation I'd do that, not unless it was a serious emergency.
  • I was at Ross once, and I had DD in the shopping cart. I went into the dressing room to try on some clothes, and the lady told me I couldn't bring the cart in, but she would watch DD while I went in. I promptly left.

  • I would never do it, unless it was some crazy emergency situation. I can't even think of an emergency example, but I guess under extreme circumstances it may be the best option. But while trying on clothes? Hell no! What's to stop them from running away with your LO?

  • I told DH this story and he didn't think it was THAT big a deal since it was an employee. I said it was and that he better NEVER do something like that!!
  • Dressing room attendant =/= qualified babysitter
