I was dx with PCOS about 8 months ago but lately I've been suspicious of that dx. I had a baseline u/s today and had a total of 26 follicles, 12 on one ovary and 14 on the other. What is a normal AFC? What is an AFC typically for someone with PCOS?
TIA!

Re: Antral follicle count and PCOS?
i *think* my RE said that having over 12 follies on one ovary was one of the classifying PCOS factors...he said you had to have at least two of these three things: anovulatory cycles, hirsutism, or polycystic ovaries.
he also said that sometimes younger women will be classified as pcos and then, in a few years, they will find they have a "normal" number of antral follicles and that they just were a normal variant when they were initially evaluated. (that sounds confusing. let me know if you need me to explain that again.)
i know i had 24 follies on one side and 28 on the other,,,so I definitely wasn't borderline there! i also have elevated testosterone but my insulin levels are perfectly normal.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
This website is helpful and it has pics of actual u/s. It sounds like you are withing normal range.
