T&P for DD's BFF's family

Just found out that DD's BFF's uncle was killed in Afghanistan on Monday. It was a roadside bomb and it was his 3rd tour.

Re: T&P for DD's BFF's family

  • They'll be in my T&P's. Our friend's twin brother was killed by a roadside bomb 3 years ago. So sad that these families have to go through this.

  • I am so sorry E. That is horrible. Saying some prayers for their family. =(

  • T & P for their family :(

My BFF's husband was killed in Afghanistan a year ago, road side bomb. It was his second tour and he had just recently gotten out of the Marines but re-joined a few months later b/c he couldn't make it in the 'real world'. It was heartbreaking.

    Mommy to three adorable boys!
  • T&P to them.  So sad.

My brother's friend died from a roadside bomb in Afghanistan during their tour of duty (my brother is in the Army).  It's so heartbreaking.

  • I'm so sorry for them.  I'll say some prayers for the family.  I just can't help but think of my brother when I read things like this.  It could've been A's uncle over there.  Ugh.
  • More details...he was an army ranger. He didn't have to go because of back problems but wanted to protect the younger soldiers so he went. He had a wife and two kids. They will bury him on sept 11. Freaking heartbreaking. DDs friend looks just like his uncle too. :(:(
  • Oh god, EMT... that's so heartbreaking.

And my brother is an Army Ranger.  He just took a training job, though, so he won't be deployed again for awhile.  Rangers are truly amazing - we went to my brother's graduation from Ranger school and I was in awe of all of them and how dedicated they are.

  • E, yeah I guess he had a training job too (training soldiers about venomous snakes you encounter) so he really must have volunteered to go back. Don't let your bro do that!!!Thanks for your words though. I am really broken up about this and I didn't even know him. Just knowing people directly impacted makes it hit too close to home.
  • I know what you mean - when my brother's friend died while deployed, it was just awful to see him go through it and talk about the friend's family and fiance - more so than when you hear stories on the news...

My brother is younger than me, but I can definitely say that it doesn't surprise me that an older Ranger would be willing to go back for the younger soldiers.  Some of the men who were at my brother's graduation were older (and involved in training) and you could just tell how dedicated they were to the young guys.
