We were in Kohl's today and I had a return and then wanted to quickly look at kids clothes and maternity clothes. It started out great. I put C in their little stroller/cart thing and she was happy. She kept looking back at me and smiling - I guess over the novelty of this stroller. We had to wait a few minutes at the return desk and that's when it happened. Something evil took over my child! I managed to calm her down a little bit and we looked at clothes and then it started again. Crying, screaming....so I picked her up and carried her. It continued. I put her down to walk and she continued to melt down. We quickly started heading to the front of the store to check out with her "pushing" the cart. Once we got to the front aisle all heck broke loose. She threw herself down on the floor and started screaming.
Screamed through the entire check out process and to the car.
Fast forward about 10 minutes when we're in Target. The scenario repeats except this time she's in her stroller, screaming the entire way through the store. I only had 3 things to get and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. It took 10 minutes to get her buckled in her car seat. Screamed most of the way home until she passed the eff out. She's still sleeping now.
It was a little early for her nap time, but apparently I underestimated the power of needing a nap.
Lesson learned: Get home at least 30 minutes before the usual nap time!
Re: We were *that* mom and *that* kid today
I was SO hoping this wasn't going to be what I read when I opened this post.
Poor thing. Do you think she's still feeling a bit "off" after not feeling well?

This! It happens. Don't sweat it.
I do think she's still not feeling 100% yet. This afternoon if anything didn't go exactly her way, we had another melt down. This is sooo not my child.
As for the decision to hit Target, once I'm out running errands, I just want to get them done. I only had a few things and her mood had seemed (ha) to improve. Joke was on me though!
Kohl's wasn't crowded and all the workers were trying to help cheer her up. The people at Target just looked at me like I had just murdered my child.
