North Dakota Babies

swaddling rocks!

As most of you know, I was a reading fiend during my pregnancy.  I was on a strict schedule to make sure that I had all of my books including newborn/childcare reading done by July 1st (and of course Caroline didn't arrive until the 28th.)  Me and Bri practiced swaddling because we were so sure that we would be using it so often.  It turns out that Caroline is a great baby so we haven't swaddled her since they did it in the hospital.

Last night, I was finishing up making dinner and Bri was feeding C.  She started to get fussing when finishing up her bottle and I knew that meant she was tired.  I had to come and get her and since I'm not an octopus and it was nearly 8:30 and we needed to eat, I decided to calm her down, swaddle her, give her a paci and put her in the swing with the "swoosh" sound on.  She seemed fine, I went back in the kitchen, finished dinner and we ate in peace.  I saw that she was done with the paci, so I went to move the blanket away from her face a little and realized that she was out.  I carried her upstairs to bed around 9:30 and she slept until 6:15 this morning!!!  She slept nearly 10 hours!  I kept getting up to check on her all night and she was fine.  I even went so far as to make her a bottle around 3:30 thinking that she had to get up soon, but I ended up just putting it in the fridge when a half hour had passed and she still wasn't up.  She normally will sleep for a 6-7.5 hour stretch at night, but this was ridiculous.  I almost feel guilty.  I'm definitely trying it again tonight to see if this was just a fluke or what.  She has slept 3 nights without getting up for a feeding this past week, but only for about 8 hours, so it's possible that this could be for real :)

Side note, I was planning to post this regardless and the timing with the below post from Christina is purely coincidental.
