Parenting after a Loss

OB office melt down.

So, my appointment today went pretty horrible, but everything is okay with baby.

I get there and go to pee in the cup and what do I see but bright red blood on my underwear. Great. I go for the NST and the baby's heart rate was nonresponsive for a LONG time (like over 20 minutes) and I LOST it.  That is how we found out DD was sick in the end. She had a strong heart rate, but it didn't go up or down. That is exactly what happened today. So, they gave me water and had me move around. They finally got a couple accelerations, but it wasn't at all like the last few weeks. Then they do a speculum exam and the Dr. said she doesn't know why there was blood but she can't see anymore. She asks if I have any questions, and I started bawling. I mean I could barely get a sentence out. They assured me baby looked great and that the bleeding had stopped, but I am just a bundle of nerves now.

So, now I am going in twice a week for bio-physical profile and NST tests. I am living in constant fear that we will lose this baby.

  • Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry.  That sounds so scary, I would have been bawling too.  I'm sure they wouldn't have told you that everything was fine with the LO if it wasn't.  You are in my thoughts and prayers for a safe and healthy remainder of your pregnancy.  ::Hugs::

  • I am so very sorry that you had/have to deal with this. Although I know it's very difficult, knowing the things you do from your first pg, try to stay positive. Remember, as I'm sure you've heard plenty of times, every pg is different! ((big hugs))

This exactly.  Hang in there.  You're almost there!

  • Oh my gosh. You poor thing. Too bad they can't keep you in the hospital on bedrest and monitor you. I will be praying for you.I can't even imagine what you are going through.
  • I'm glad things are looking good! That had to be so scary! At least you were at the doctor's when you saw the blood though, right?

  • I'm glad you found the high-risk office and that you seem to like them.  Hopefully everything will remain stable, and if not, hopefully the frequent visits will help than catch anything that goes wrong!  Big hugs.

  • Sending thoughts and prayers your way.  I can't imagine how scary that would be, and unfortunately, once you've had a loss, as we all have, your view is forever skewed.  If you can, try to take it easy for the next few weeks, and focus on day to day.  (((hugs)))
