I can't stand it!!!

Just venting but I hate when my husband takes over dinner.  I will be in the middle of making dinner and he takes over.  What's worse is that he smokes and even though he said he wouldn't smoke around me he lights up and is smoking with his ciggy in his mouth over the stove...like in that scene from 16 candles!!!!  It's gross and pisses me off....he opens all the windows and back door but it's Montana and kinda cold right now....so annoyed...plus I don't like what we are having for a dinner.  ugh.

    Ok-first I am jealous because it is cold where you are. 2nd-I would love it if my DH came into the kitchen to take care and 3rd-if DH came around me with a cig. in his mouth i would take it out of his mouth and throw it in the sink!  thankfully he doesn't smoke because it is semi disgusting!

    No you're totally right.  I should appreciate it.  But he does it because he thinks he is a better cook.  Not because he wants to help.  Well at least that's how I take it.  Because he will criticize and then take over.  Or if I ask something he just takes over.  I know he means well. I'm just being a baby.  As far as the ciggy goes,  well I would love to take it out of his mouth and throw it in the sink but ummmm.....I would not want to know what he would do...not that he would hurt me but good gawd he might yell.  It is semi disgusting.  Especially when he uses my coffee mugs as ash trays...you have no idea how many times I gag.

    I could see why DH taking over the cooking would be annoying. DH and I have very different styles of cooking. He overloads whatever it is with seasoning and I use seasoning but it doesn't over power the food. The smoking would gross me out. DH doesn't smoke but if he did, I would have a fit if he lit up around me and in the house at that. Just disgusting. I would take it out of his mouth too.

    I hear you! Hang in there... those hormones are kickin in like crazy, im the same way... except I am now just really really needy when it comes to my husband, and any little thing that he doesnt do "to my liking", I get sssooooo irritated...and then there goes he attitude :(

    Hopefully you will enjoy a delicious desert!!

    Good Lord honey - Stand up for yourself.  His habit sounds disgusting and needs to stop before the baby comes.   You can't be a cigarette doormat forever.

    He knows how I feel.  BUT being that I was a smoker for 18 years I know how hard it is to stop smoking and yelling at him everytime he lights up just isn't worth it.  I was able to stop smoking due to it making me sick after I got pregnant.  I was still smoking at the beginning.  I obviously didn't know I was pregnant until 8 weeks but that's about when the smoking started making me sick etc. etc.  I was able to stop because of that.  Smoking is a hard habit to break.  We have fought over it and I have gotten ugly over it but he won't stop.  So I walk away.  He doesn't do it near my son so I am hoping he won't with this LO either....

    He doesn't smoke near your son? He's smoking in the house that presumably your son lives in so um..ya he is. He sounds like an asshat, sorry. If my DH was stupid enough to bite the hand that feeds and blow smoke in my face at the same time he wouldn't be around much longer.

    If he is smoking in the house then your son is being exposed to it.  I  understand it's a hard habit to break, but your DH should make a better effort to try to stop.  Definitely not only for his own health but for the health of his family.  He should look into methods to help him quit.

    1) I would love for my husband to take over cooking or rather that I'd just love to have him home to cook dinner. We work total opposite shifts so Im home alone until 11:30 pm. Its really hard to make him dinner when anything I make smells disgusting to me. 2) Why will he not smoke outside. I live in WA state where it gets very cold as well. My SIL smokes outside and when I am at my in-laws(whom have smoked in their home for 20+ years) they both go outside their own home to smoke. It takes 3-5 minutes to smoke. Put on a jacket and deal with it if he wont quit for you.

    I am an ex-smoker going on almost 5 years, h is a pack a day smoker.  There is no smoking in the house or in any of the cars.  I'm sure it's not easy for H but I become very sick from smoke now.  I would be very annoyed if someone was not only smoking in my house but over my food..
