NBR - Who has an iPhone?

A month or two I did the latest update on my iPhone through iTunes and ever since my phone has run like CRAP! I mean complete crap. I am so irritated. Texts are super delayed... it seems like everything is delayed. When I get a text and try to open it it takes awhile to come up and if I am trying to type a text I start to type and it takes awhile to show.

Anyone else have this problem? I have the 3G 8gb... not the 4.

Re: NBR - Who has an iPhone?

  • Yup same here.... My DH read on some online blog that the 4.0 software upgrade messed up a lot of 3Gs bc it wasn't as "compatible" as they thought... =/

I honestly wondered if the 4 had anything to do with it. I am so frustrated. I am seriously thinking about switching back to BB

  • My husband has one. After he updated, it erased all of his information. Everything. And now it likes to turn off whenever it feels like it.

It did that to me too! Luckily I had just backed everything up the night before so I didn't lose much of anything. As for the turning off... WTH? That's weird. Mine hasn't started doing that yet.

  • After hubby and I updated ours apps open without us even touching the phone, mine refused to turn on a few weeks ago and sometimes it won't charge properly saying my charger isn't a compatible device??

Yeah.. It's really annoying when we are trying to use it for GPS. It kept losing where we were because of the mountains, and every time it found us again it would turn off.  His contract is up soon, so he's deciding if he wants to switch or try out the new iPhone.

Last night my husband's randomly decided that it was connected to a device that isn't compatible! It was connected to nothing. It told us this like 3 times before giving up and turning off. His phone is moody.

  • Mine is 3GS. I too upgraded to OS 4.0 recently and around the same time, calls began to drop all the time. I've never had this problem before. I was talking to my mom who was in a room upstairs and that call dropped too. Sometimes I'll have someone call me and ask why I haven't returned their call, I'll have no log of a missed call. Other times, I'll have a voicemail, but no record of the call in the "recents".
  • I am nosing in from the 2nd tri and still a few weeks out from joining you ladies, but I had the same problem. An update is coming out next week, but you can hard reset your phone and it will run much better. I have done this twice, the most recent after my phone was super slow and didn't want to send text messages. The article below explains the hard reset. Just a note, do the hard reset twice, it doesn't seem to be as effective the first time.

Hard resetting your iPhone can speed it up for a while. Here?s how to do it:

    • Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time, hold both for about 5 seconds
    • Ignore the typical ?Slide to power off message? and continue holding both buttons until the iPhone shuts itself off
    • When your iPhone 3G resets itself you can stop holding the buttons, it takes about 10 seconds to hard reset the iPhone
    • Let iOS boot as usual, your phone should be temporarily sped up

This works because it clears your iPhone?s memory completely, but this is less of a permanent solution than disabling Spotlight since caches and memory will inevitably be full again.

  • ::raises hand angrily:: I did that update in July for my 3G as well and my phone is a giant piece of sh!t now. I've done multiple hard resets and did a full reset to factory defaults and it still runs like garbage. It's laggy, freezes randomly, crashes all.the.time and is infuriatingly slow to load anything. I hope a new update fixes the problem b/c I'm ready to throw it against a brick wall.

My voice mail doesn't even work... it tells me I need a password, I have tried 0000, the last 4 of my social, etc... nothing.... & the best part is I have never had a password on my voicemail...

Call them. That was one of my many issues after I updated my 3GS. I was able to fix that quickly. It took forever to reset all the random settings that it defaulted too so I was really poesy for a week. At this point one of the most annoying things remains the freezing and crashing. I usually have to turn my phone on and off once a day sometimes more. I gotthe phone last summer and never once saw it crash or freeze before the update.
  • You definitely need to go in and try to update with the latest version.  This was happening with ipads too.  My business does Apple based home control.  We saw many problems too after the initial upgrade.  The latest version seems to fix it.

Will this clear all of my info and settings?
