TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Wow, genetics for you (friend's kids mentioned)

This is kind of a trip. A girl I went to HS with is of singapor(ian?) descent. She's stunning, has darker skin, gorgeous eyes and black hair. Her DH is white, and their 4 year old son is blond/huge round blue eyes.

She just had a baby girl last week, and the baby girl is darker, black hair and has her mother's eyes. There's a picture of the two of them together and you would NEVER guess that they're siblings.

Funny how genetics work like that.

  • I'm too busy being jealous of your gorgeous friend and her gorgeous family to think about genetics.

  • I guess I'm the only one who found that interesting. Sorry!

  • That is funny!  I have a friend who is Asian, and her husband is white.  Her kids also turned out the exact same way - first child, dark blond hair & blue eyes, second child, looks just like her mom.  I always thought dark hair/dark eyes would dominate those traits, but I guess she had a recessive gene somewhere in her past.

  • There was a woman a while back who had two sets of twins. Each set had one who was light like mom and dark like their dad. I think they did IVF but the chances of it happenng (let alone twice) were very slim. I always found genetics so interesting.

  • That's interesting.  I think genetics are very interesting.  In Dh's family, his mom has brown eyes and his dad has blue eyes.  There are 5 kids.  DH is the only one with brown eyes, the rest have blue.  Brown is suppose to be dominant.
