37 weeks one day and the babies head is engaged and I am 1 cm dilated. How long do you think now? Or is it hard to say...

It's anyones guess. I've had friends walking around at 4cm dilated for WEEKS! Dilation really means nothing.

Impossible to say. I was 2cm and 90% at 37 weeks and labor didn't start until 40 weeks exactly

But hey, it's a start!

With my first I was 1 cm at 36 weeks (and head was really low) and still 1 cm at 41 weeks when I finally went into labor.

I've been at 1cm since like 36 weeks and my due date is on Thursday. Sadly, you really can't get all too excited by that alone.

No way to know. With my DD I was 2 cm dilated at 35 weeks, and 3 cm dilated starting at 36 weeks and stayed that way until I went into labor at 38 1/2 weeks. This time around I was 1 cm at 35 weeks.

Combined with a ripening cervix, my doctor told me that 1cm was a good start, and definitely better than no dilation and a cervix that was still firm. So even though you can still go a long time, it does indicate that your body is making preparations, which is good!

Hard to say. I was 1 cm and 70% effaced for 4 weeks.

Had my baby at 40 w 6 d.
