I found out that the girl who was hired for the position I interviewed for has a Bachelors and no experience. Fresh out of college. No connection to that school.
I have a Masters and 2 yrs experience in the grade level in that school.
My feelings are hurt. The principal told me a gave a great interview and there was nothing he'd have me change. I just don't know if I can go back and work in that school as a sub, or for my new degree and be OK. I was perfect for that job, and it's like a slap in the face.
It also makes me rethink another MEd. If I can't get a job with one, what district will want to hire me with two??
Re: Not sure what to do with this info
Oh that sucks
I don't have any advice, but I'm so sorry this happened to you.
Maybe budget restrictions (they can pay her less)? Maybe she had a personal connection?
In any case, it isn't fair.
This is my thought.

GC wins the prize on this one. My mother works for a very large school district, and when money is tight, experience and education come into play when hiring. She's certainly vented to me often enough about it.
It blows, Izzy.
That sucks. I'm sorry. I concur with the other women, that it was probably not you, but money.
What is your current masters in and what are you hoping to do your second masters in?

This is me exactly. My M.Ed is in Elem Ed, but I want a Literacy degree SO BADLY. But since they are cutting literacy specialists left and right, I will prob never get one. Boo.
And I agree with the "she was cheaper" thoughts. For sure that was it.

I'm so sorry you didn't get the position. But it's def about money. Remember, that $4500 is for the first year, but the increase every year adds up (in their minds). I hate this budget crisis.
My mom just retired from teaching. She tried to change school systems about 10 years ago, believe me it is the money! As PP said, they will take the cut in experience and degrees just to save money. Sad, yes. GL finding a job, you might have to go to a school that is willing to pay the extra (or has the budget to do so), to find a job.
I know the city I grew up in would have hired you for sure, but the city over I live in now would never be able to afford it!
Hope you get what you deserve soon! Keep your head up! GL!
