Trouble TTC

Open vial of Follistim

So I only used 325 IU of my 600 IU of Follistim.  It would be ok to use next cycle right? It should be right around 30 days from when it was opened to when I would start using it again.

This will play a part in if we decide to try one more IUI. I keep going back and forth.  Someone please decide for me.  DH says he will do whatever I want to do, which is sweet but completely unhelpful.  I have a call with the nurse coordinator for IVF on Thursday to schedule appointments so I need to decide by then.

    Ditto!!!

  • The info from my clinic says it is good for 28 days after first use.  I would think that 30 is close enough it would be fine.  I hope you don't end up needing to use it, though!

I thought I had heard a 28 day rule.  By the time I am done with injections it will have been opened for 38 days or so.

I guess I will have to check with my RE.

    Thanks!

    This exactly!!

  • My RE says that Follistim is good for up to 30 days after you opened the vial.  I had to throw away most of a 300 IU vial after my cancelled cycle, which made me unhappy.  If you're only a few days past that, and it has been refrigerated properly, you're probably ok.

I hope you end up not needing it!

  • hopefully you won't need it!!

but I only used 450iu of a 900 vial that I had and my nurse said that I could use it for my IVF cycle since I kept it refrigerated. So you should be fine. I am glad I am using Follistim for IVF since I have a total of 2250iu in my fridge!

Wow!  That is a lot of drugs in your fridge!

Mine has stayed refrigerated so I am thinking it will be fine.  Now if I want to use it...
