TTC After a Loss

Intro and Question

Hi ladies! I'm really excited to join you!  I had a m/c August 4 and AF arrived today, so we'll be TTC in a few weeks!

My question is about Clomid.  My OB had prescribed it to me and I was waiting on my period when we got our BFP last time.  My husband wants me to take the Clomid this month because he wants a LO so badly.  Several people have told me that the body is more fertile after a m/c and that the body knows what its supposed to do now.  Is that a load of bull?  Would you take the meds or let nature take its course?

  • I'm sorry for your loss, but welcome to the board.

For me it would depend on how long I was TTC before the last BFP and what the reason for getting the clomid was (no O, late O, low progesterone, etc.)

I don't necessarily think that I would skip it based on the "you are super fertile post-m/c" theory, but more because you were just pregnant w/o clomid, so obviously it is possible.  I would want to know what the reasoning behind taking it is if you can get KU without it.

With being on clomid please ake sure you are monitored, clomid is not candy. All I have to say about it.

    Welcome to the board.

  • I was prescribed Clomid because I was not ovulating every month. Thanks for all the responses!

If this is the reason, then I would probably take it.  GL!

  • Welcome to the board! I don't have anything to add to the Clomid responses, but good luck.

I've heard the whole m/c helps fertility thing and I hope it's true, but I have a sinking feeling it's not. I have read that you're more likely to conceive if you try within 6 mos of a m/c, as opposed to waiting, but that could just be that the longer you wait (especially if you have fertility issues) the harder it might be.

  • I'm super jealous that your AF arrived!  I'm so sorry that you're here, hopefully it's not for long!  I don't know anything about clomid, so I'm no help there.
