I called and asked if they could get me in to do a quick scan and they said they would but I'd have to pay for it because the insurance won't cover it. I asked if they'd write me a prescription for a doppler so I could get one through that program that rents out dopplers for free to women who have had a loss, and she said absolutely not because I'm not trained in using a doppler and she can't believe anyone would create that program. So basically I have to wait until my appointment in 2.5 weeks.
you can buy a doppler for pretty cheap on ebay.com without a prescription. Mine worked great. I heard the heartbeat at 9 weeks.
I had one w/ DS that I bought on ebay, but like an idiot I sold it on ebay after I got in my 3rd tri. I should have kept it! I just put a bid on another one on ebay! It's different from the one I had last time, but it looks like it'll do the trick!
Did you ask if the nurse could do a doppler check for you. My doc would do that for me because he didn't want me buying my own doppler because I wasn't "trained" to use it. We also used the fact that my DH works at the ER and would come in and use theirs when I was feeling uneasy.
