Help me understand this

Why do people set appointments and not show up?  Even when they schedule the appointment the day before. I don't get it.  At least call me and tell me you're not coming.  It's disrespectful in any business.  I work at a college, but are there people that do this to doctors, dentists, lawyers, etc?

    OMG.  I haaaaaaaaaaaate that.  I did massage therapy before bedrest and people would schedule massages THAT DAY and not show.  I worked on commission so I would go in and totally waste my time and gas money.

    I work (worked) at a portrait studio and people do that ALL THE TIME, annoys the crap out of me.

    I waited a half an hour yesterday in a court for a guy to show up for his hearing.  No show, no explanation, no nothing.

    I'll never understand that either.

    I'm in the dental field, and yes, people fail their appointments.  A lot of people show up late as well, which is extremely rude.
