I just posted the pic of my u/s. Did it today, we wanted to wait til we saw a hb. DH tagged us in the pic and said hes going to be a daddy. He was so excited to put it on fb, I couldnt make him wait anymore.
I am not sure if I am going to tell everyone on FB. If I do I guess I will just put the ultrasound picture up like I did with the first. If I am going to tell everyone on FB it's not going to be until I am almost to the second trimester.
Why do you need to have a cute way to tell on FB? It just seems silly to me. Most of our close friends know already. The only people who will find out via FB are the people I don't talk to much. Since I don't talk to them much, I don't particularly care if they find out via a "cute" message. A simple "I'm pregnant" should suffice.
The Babies R Us facebook page has a tool to create a Baby Pool on your page. Friends can guess gender, birthdate, height and weight. I haven't seen it used before, but it sounded like a cool way to announce.
I'm definitely not announcing on FB and I'm keeping all pregnancy related stuff off there. After 2 years of TTC and dealing with infertility, I know how much those announcements and pictures hurt to see, so just in case one of my friends is going through the same secret struggle, I'm keeping it to myself and telling people IRL instead.

That is what I want to do. It will be good too that when we get the ultrasound, I will be almost 11 weeks. Ugh... 3 more weeks to wait! I can't stand it! I am going up to my parents this weekend to tell them in person

I suppose it all depends on who you have friended in your account. Personally, I only friend people I am close to, so announcing it to those people would be NBD. Perhaps announcing it to your whole graduating class and every cow-irker you have ever had may be ill advised. But, I don't think whatever you do if it is right for you is "silly" at all.
I have only my friends on FB and will definitely be letting them all know after the first trimester.
I am running a 10k this Sunday and will we wearing a yellow sign that says "Baby On Board". I'll just have my hubbie take a picture of me with the sign on and then post it when I am ready to let everyone know.
Going to announce by having DD wear a big sister t shirt.
And i dont agree with the infertility aspect as a reason to now post about it. When i was TTC i would rather have read on someones facebook that they were pregnant than to be told in person. At least i didnt have to fake a smile then.

Understood, but we live far away from family and friends and will only be telling a small group of people when we see them. I don't need my 300 facebook friends to know.
We will just keep it simple with "Jen and Steve are excited to announce a new addition to the family, due March 2011."
We are telling our close friends and family in person, but eventually I'll want to post pictures of our little one (we have a lot of distant family on fb) and want the not-so-close friends to know what's up. Plus, we waited a long time to hear all the congrats comments. I can't wait to post it and have it be public knowledge rather than secretive. I'm tired of this being our secret!

I only have friends and family on my facebook so I wrote "I am first, yet third. I can be bounced, but not dropped, I can be felt, but not touched. What am I?"
It was fun to see peoples answers. This is my third child and FI's first.
We haven't decided if we are going to announce it on facebook, but I have a cute one from a friend.
Background: I am in a sorority and if you have a daughter they are a legacy to the sorority. My friend put on her status: "Just found out I will be filling out legacy forms in 2028." I thought it was a cute way to announce.
I don't understand the people who say posting on fb is dumb or you don't want all your fb friends to know you're pregnant. I guess I just don't see the big deal. Of course everyone is going to tell their close family/ friends first. But it's also a huge part of your life, and I would think you would want to share it with all of your friends. Unless you're one of those weirdos who hoards random fb friends.
I plan on telling people on FB. Not that I'm going to document every poop, but there are people in my life that I consider a friend but whom I don't talk to on a regular basis. It would be very AW'ish to call them and tell them when we don't have a phone-call type relationship, but I'm sure they'd feel left out if I didn't tell them via FB or email.
I don't see a big difference between FB and email really. I don't have a million "friends" on there as I routinely cull the list. Plus, I really like hearing about major life milestones from friends I don't hear from that often. Just b/c a few months go by that we don't talk or see each other doesn't make us less of friends because of it.
Anyway, I'm just going to say "I have a bun in the oven"

I haven't decided whether or not to announce our pg on FB. If we do, I might just put a picture of DD in a "big sister" t-shirt.
That is what a friend of mine did, she just changed her profile pic to her DD wearing the Big Sister Tshirt and waited for people to notice. I thought it was cute.

Totally agree with this...I mean, if you never intend to announce or even mention your pregnancy, will you just never talk about your child once they arrive? If not, then what's even the point of having a FB account? I use it to catch up with people, and if you aren't going to share the hugest thing to EVER happen to you, then I truly don't see the point in being on FB at all...nobody cares about seeing only the mundane crap in your life that doesn't matter, sorry. I can totally see waiting till you are absolutely ready to announce, but I can't even understand why you'd take the time to be FB friends with someone you wouldn't mention a pregnancy to.
That said, I'll probably post something sometime either after first trimester is over or when we find out gender, haven't really thought about it yet.
Thanks for the great ideas everyone! I have already told my family and close friends but just wanted to share with all my friends. Like someone said, what is the point of being on FB if you don't share the biggest events in your life? Personally I always love hearing whats going on in peoples life. With a toddler I am not able to keep up with some of my friends as much and FB has been a nice way to stay connected.

I had a friend who was pregnant with her third so she posted "Announcing the third and final installment in the _____ family saga. Due out in June 2010." I thought it was cute

I saw one person with a status update of : ten little fingers and ten little toes what will it be who know....
Or you could put: I'm KTFU
