What bottles do you use?

We've been using the Tommee Tippee and liked it at first, but I think the nopple flow is too fast for him.  He's always covered in formula and sounds like he's practically choking the entire time he's eating.  Tried the Playtex Ventaire last night and while it solved the other problems....it leaked from the top and the bottom.

I'm tired of spending money on bottles that don't work!

Re: What bottles do you use?

  • We BF but occasionally give DS a bottle of BM.  The Born Free bottles work really well for us.  They do have a couple extra parts but they're really easy to clean.

  • Are the TT nipples the slow flow ones?

I use the ventaire and dr. browns. No leaking problems from either, just gotta make sure everything is on there good and snug. I also got some Nuk bottles but haven't used them since I need to get the slow flow nipples and these have md flow nips on there since they're 9oz bottles.

  • I use the Dr. Brown's bottles and have had no problems with leaking and they do have extra parts to clean as well.
  • We use Born Free and love them. DS has had no problems with them. Like PP mentioned there are extra parts to have to clean, but it is a lot better than having to clean LO after formula leaks all over them or wasting precious formula, or even worse BM!!

  • we use the playtex ventaire wide (we where using drop in and they use the same nipples) to make sure the vent disk is really dry as well as the base, if they are wet you will have some leakage. you also have to make sure the top and bottom is on just right. we also use slow flow nipples. and my daughter to this day has formula leak out the sides.
  • We use Dr. Brown's as well. We love them, in fact I need to go buy some more.

Does formula leak out of your LO's mouth the whole time? When my LO starts to get full he'll start letting it flow out the sides of his mouth because he's not swallowing anymore.

  • We use Tommee Tippee and Evenflo. We haven't had any leaking issues with either one. I did read mixed reviews on the nipple flow for the TT's though.

  • Nuk Orthodontic with air flow system. They've worked great for us. Easy to clean too.

  • I also bought the Tommee Tippee bottles (and every other product they made).  My issue wasn't with the flow of milk, but the fact that the tip of the nipple would bend so easily in my LO's mouth so he wasn't getting enough.  I've have since switched to the Avent bottles and so far, am liking them.

  • We use both Medela and Avent bottles.

  • We only tried a bottle twice but both times we used the First Years Breastflow and he seemed to like it and no "messiness" issues.

The nipples are the slow flow ones so I don't know what the deal is.  But even from the beginning, when I know he's hungry and still eating...total formula face!  I used to think he was just a voracious eater until the last few days he's been so cranky and gassy and think it's because he's sucking in so much air...hence the switch to ventair.  I will make sure all the parts are dry and snug before I give up on them!

    Thanks everyone for the tips!

  • I've heard really great things about Dr Browns bottles. Both sister in laws use them and said that they were amazing, and they reduce gas, colic, and spit up.
