I know everyone is different and I should just wait until I see my obgyn again, but she said she doesn't want to see me until December/January and I'm impatient and high anxiety. My question is what are common next steps after over a year of TTC and one miscarriage?
My Obgyn tested my thyroid in June at my annual exam and I had a sonohysterogram in July to check that the lining of my uterus had healed near my c-section scar tissue where pregnancy #2 that I miscarried had implanted. Both came back as normal, so my obgyn said to keep trying and check in with her in December/January to discuss next steps. I think she is counting our year of TTC as beginning after the m/c, but in my head it started a year ago this month. Since we started TTC last August would she be able to refer us to a RE in January or should I be pushy and ask for an appointment earlier?
Thanks
Re: What are usual next steps? - long
A few questions. How old are you? Are you charting and/or using OPKs so that you're fairly sure of ovulation? Do you know how long your LP is?

We are both 32. I chart and use OPks, so pretty sure of ovulation and cycles are pretty regular. Very little CM is the only thing I've noticed.. LP is usually 13-14 days. I have read TCOYF again this summer. I read it the first time when TTC #1. TCOYF did say that after 4 cycles of TTC DH should have sperm analysis, but my doctor never mentioned this. My DH has appt with his PCP next month and plans to ask.
The first tests done after a year of trying are CD3-5 b/w, 7dpo b/w, HSG, and SA for your DH.
I went to my OB after trying for 13 months. She ordered the basic tests for my H and I, but brushed off my concerns. My gut told me something was wrong, especially since we got pg so easily before this. It turns out that my OB either didn't read my b/w results right or didn't really know what to look for, because my RE saw what was wrong as soon as he looked at my results. OB's are not fertility specialists, and sometimes aren't as proactive or knowledgeable as RE's. You have to be your biggest advocate and follow your gut instinct.
GL!
Of course it never hurts to call and get an appointment. It doesn't sound like your doctor will be willing to do much with you yet though. There are some things you can do to help with the CM issue though. Have you tried Evening Primrose Oil? Cashew's Mommy has great success with that. Both grapefruit juice and green tea are supposed to help as well. Oh, and plain mucinex/robitussin too.
I may totally be telling you things you already know. If so, I'm sorry. As hard as it is to wait and keep trying, that may be all you need to do though. We all want to be pregnant with sticky babies this instant. Unfortunately our utes didn't get that message

Waiting on doctors and tests is NOT fun - and the anxiety can make things that much worse. I'm sorry.
I believe in being your own best advocate when it comes to health care. So I would push for a referral sooner rather than later. I'd call your OBGYN and ask to see her sooner for a referral, if possible.

I promise there is no snark intended here. But you really would want to jump to an RE after 4 months of TTCAL? The OP has a child under 2 and got pregnant within 3 months of TTC for number two. Even if the second pregnancy ended due to an unfortunate implantation site, I am not seeing the need for an immediate RE consultation. Maybe I'm missing something?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I appreciate it. I was actually just out at the store picking up some Evening Primrose Oil to try this cycle. I think mucinex is what helped me get pregnant the first two times, but I haven't noticed it doing the trick since m/c.
Yes, it's the waiting that is giving me the time to worry that I'm not doing things right or that there is something wrong. I know chances are slim each month even in the best circumstances, but I want results, damn it!!!
