  • How long do you have before you have to put something on the birth certificate? Regardless I would hate to hold my child witbhout a  name!

  • Weird.  I had some friends recently that wouldn't tell the name of their baby for a while, but I think they had one.  I think.
  • My aunt didn't have a name for my cousin for several days, but that's because she had 4 ultrasounds telling her that it was going to be a girl, and he turned out to be a boy!

  • one of the few things you can actually plan for with a baby...   I "know" what I am having, but I am still preparing two names WELL before the baby comes.

  • Is it a case of the name she picked out she doesn't like now that she has seen the baby?  I have heard of it happening...go in with one name come out with another name.
  • Well, I will admit that I was one of those people that didn't name their baby until the day after!

DH and I had a list of 3 names and we decided we wanted to see her before making our final decision.  After 46 hours of labor and being awake for almost 60 hours, I felt like I couldn't name my child the evening she was born in that frame of mind.  We got some rest and quickly named her in the morning.

  • My friend is due any day and still can't decide on a name! They had a couple good ideas but I think she might just be waiting to meet her first..
  • We named dd the day after.  The doctor told us we had until the day we were leaving the hospital.  We had a couple of names picked out but wanted to meet dd first. We would have named her sooner but didn't have a minute to ourselves to discuss.
  • Does she by any chance pratice Kabala (not sure if I spelled that correctly).  Somoene I used to work with praticed Kabala and he and his wife had some names picked out for their daughter after she was born but they did not officially name her until they had some kind of naming ceremony - where the ultimate decision was a group decision I think and this ceremony didn't take place until 2 weeks after she was born.  Because they didn't have a name when they left the hospital they were issued a birth certificate that said "Baby Lastname" and then they filed for an official birth certificate once she was named.

  • Didn't Giselle and Tom Brady wait weeks before they named their son? I think it was them... very odd.

apparently so.  She had names prepared for both genders.
