People posted their opinions in regards to Katrina. Isn't that what we do in response to every single post? We post our opinion in regards to the questions/AW-ing/vent that the person did. It's not always popular, but it's the person's opinion and not something you have to agree with.

I was talking to my friend yesterday in NO. She lost her husband and her 18 month old baby in the hurricane that cajun girl is so tired about hearing. I told her about how you thought she had no common sense because she didn't get out.
She smacked her forehead and said why didn't I think of that! My husband and child could still be alive if I had just thought of that.

Who are we hating on today? The poor, the disenfranchised, the disabled or should we just stick to our usual, those receiving benefits?
How about those that are poor, get welfare and use handicap parking? Bet that grinds some gears.
So we spend lots of time bickering over this topic, but what about some real reflection on how the situation can be improved? I will say this: I have compassion for people in a bad sitaution. If someone knocked on my door and asked for my help I would help them. In particular, my heart goes out to children and the elderly.
However, I do know people who are not doing what they could to help themselves. And sometimes when I post on the boards I feel as though some people think it's not okay for me to be frustrated at these folks not putting effort forth. When people say things like "I paid into the system, it's my right" I do get frustrated. I know they might be justifying but in real life I know people with this attitude.
So what about some conversation around that topic? Not talking about who gets assistance or why, not pulling any racial slurs and trying to avoid stereotypes. Assuming people are physcially and mentally able, how do we help folks right now who are receiving assistance to be in a better place in 5 years?
A teacher asks her students if they are Yankees fans. One of them says, ?No, my Dad is a Red Sox fan, my Mom is a Red Sox fan, so I?m a Red Sox fan.? So the teacher says, ?Well, that?s not very good; if your mother and father were both morons, would that make you a moron too??
?No, that would make me a New York Yankees fan.?

And I'm not crying... you should consider yourselves lucky that half our starters are out for the season since we're only 7 games back with our minor league team playing in the majors! If we were healthy you'd be running scared!

With a reason to be! Tied for first with Tampa Bay. It's looking good this year.
I miss baseball talk. Everyone down here is all about college, and high school, football.
Signed,
Girl from the Bronx.
I hope you are a yankee fan and that is not a reference to Jenny from the Block.
So if they are baseball fans, what's their team in SC?
SC tends to align most with the Braves. I personally am split Yankees and Braves. Luckily, they are very rarely against each other.
And sorry you don't like the football talk, Jamie. You just happen to live in one of the proudest HS football towns! My brother is actually on the team, so I talk about it a lot too.

LOL, I have heard that but the other way around. Here are some Red Sox jokes:
Q: Why is the monster green? A: Envy from Yankee wins.
Re: Haterade Tuesday?
JFC. Get over it already.

Just kidding, I didn't even read the Katrina thread yesterday... too busy at work.
Doesn't the rest of the world already hate the wealthy? Let's be more original

A: He likes horror stories.

Q: What's the difference between the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Strangler?
A: One chokes only in October.
I hate seasons like this. They give Tamp Bay fans delusions of grandeur.
