New to The Bump

Is my co-worker right? Could I be harming my chances?

Hi all,

I work at a company that sends out soundtracks on CD. I can be lifting anywhere between a pound to a max of about 75 pounds any given day. I bend every day to fufill our orders.

My co-worker, who is 70, knows that I am TTC. She constantly tells me that all the lifting and bending could be hindering my chances of getting and staying pregnant. Could she be right? I know various people and articles talk about limiting the weight but what is too much and can bending really terminate a pregnancy?

My husband and I have been TTC for the last 5 years, I have had 3 times that I felt were it due to various changes in my body and then within a few days of my expected period it happens.

By now I am concerned she may be right and want to make sure I am not doing anything that is making this not happen for us.

Please ease my fears. I can't quit this job just yet but at least I can lessen the weight, and try something else about the bending if its true.

Thanks for all you help!

  • Your co-worker is high.

If you're that concerned, discuss this with your doctor. Certainly your dr is more informed of this than a random co-worker

  • If you have been TTC for 5 years, it is time to see a fertility specialist and get tested.  Lifting 75 pounds is not hindering your chances of getting pregnant.

  • And why are you discussing TTC with a co-worker? That's a recipe for disaster.

And please don't try to fish for whether or not you had 3 m/c's because of "changes in your body". I can tell you that I had all sorts of phantom symptoms during cycles where there was no way I was pregnant.
