Anyone have a "conspiracy theorist" FB friend?

This has got to be one of the most annoying types of FB friends. I went to HS with this great girl and she went on to college, etc. She's a mom to two little ones now. Recently she's started to sound a little FB crazy. Almost every day she posts about how things are out to get us-- everything from the "H1N1 conspiracy," to the Teflon people, to the government ignoring our water being poisoned, to today's gem, how dentists are trying to give us cancer by using cancer-causing cavity fillings. I don't mind if you're trying to take up an issue or two, but it's kind of getting annoying to see that she's buying into every single idea to ever float out there. And then posting about it. And then her crazy friends come and comment on it and say things like, "That's why we don't go to the doctor anymore!" and "That's why my kids will never go to school!" Weird. Just weird.

Re: Anyone have a "conspiracy theorist" FB friend?

  • I don't have any friends like that, but I do have a few who are constantly posting their stupid political views or who write about drama with their baby daddy (NO, it's not any of you!Stick out tongue).  I want to "hide" them, but I really just can't.  It's like a train wreck, you just can't look away.  :)

  • I have put several people on "hide" for this.  DH and I crack up about one particular friend.  He truly is paranoid about everything- tv, our water supply, vaccines make us zombies for the government, etc.
  • When stuff like this goes from annoying to over the top, I hide them.  I hid one FB friend because she was spouting about the need for national health care 3 times a day for several weeks.  I'm sorry, but it got old.  Even if you agree with the need, it got old.  I had another FB friend constantly talk about toxins and vaccines causing autism.  Now, I'm not discounting either friend's opinions.  But when it is constant, all I want to say is "enough already"!  ya know?

  • I know. I just want to say, "Point made. Now drop it."

And Lindsey, I have to agree that this is on par with the baby daddy friends. I only have two of those, and they're really just girls from high school, but wow, the drama...

Ah, Facebook. What interesting doors you have opened for us.
