We noticed our DD had a flattening head by the time she was 6 weeks or so. We took her to the Cranial Doc and they said she had 'moderate' flattening - this was a 3 months. We were careful about her positioning and went back to be evaluated at 4 months and found that it had improved - quite a bit. Her head still seems flat to me, so we're going to watch it until she's 6 months and make a final decision at that point.
Has anyone noticed flattening and had the head round out on its own (or with a little help by you with positioning)? Sooner is better as far as using the band for treatment - I don't want to lose my window. I'm just holding out hope it will get better.
Re: Babies with flat heads..
LO has always had some slight flattening on the right side of his head because he loathes tummy time, but as soon as he wanted to do more sitting up in his jumperoo, bumbo and just being held in a sitting position with no pressure on his head I've seen an improvement.
At his 2 month appointment his pedi said we'd evaluate if he needed a helmet at his 4 month appointment. But, since we had started doing more things like that his head has rounded out more and he said it wasn't necessary. Good luck and HTH!
how are you *keeping* her on her side at night/during the day?
I have to admit, I e-stalk your blogs. You are an amazing photographer! Love your blogs, your girls are beautiful!.. (I feel like a silly fanboy right now eeek)
lol i love e-stalkers
and thank you
we went in her room several times each night and rolled her to her side.. after a few weeks she started sleeping that way on her own. During the day its impossible, of course
