Babies: 3 - 6 Months

for those who currently enjoy sex...

WHEN did you start to enjoy it?  haven't tried it in a few weeks but the couple times we did it was very uncomfortable and i didn't even have any tearing.  i've tried to take one for the team but my husband didn't even want to do it because he knew it was super uncomfortable for me.  is it a 'gets better with time' kind of a thing?  or a 'the more you do it the less it hurts' kind of a thing????  or is 3 and half months plenty of time to heal and i should visit my doctor???

Re: for those who currently enjoy sex...

  • I'm still a bit sore, but it gets easier every time. The only time it's uncomfortable for me now is when we first start, then after a minute or two I'm fine and able to enjoy it.

  • It still hurts a little for me, but hurts progressively less each time.  I had 2nd degree tears & my Dr must have sewed me up real tight.  I think it jsut is going to hurt until you do it several times, KWIM?

  • For me, it was uncomfortable at two months pp but now it feels great. I think it is time and doing it more combined- not just one or the other. And at this point I'm still a little sore afterwards.

  • For me it was "the more you do it the better". It started off pretty bad and gradually got better. I had to "take one for the team" a few times. Then one time when I was mentally preparing for the pain, there was none. Ever since it's been all good.

  • It still hurts pretty bad for me, and we are right at the 3 month mark. I had my IUD placed last week and talked to the Doc about it. Heck, even asked her to make sure all looked okay in there when she was inserting the IUD. She said everything looked just fine, and actually didnt feel a think when getting my IUD inserted. I EBF, and she mentioned that BF will cause more dryness and increased senstivitiy. We use lots of lube already, but maybe not enough!? I dunno. It seriously still hurts like a mother. I bear with it until finally it stops hurting as bad.

  • I don't totally enjoy sex yet, but I'm getting there.  It doesn't hurt nearly as bad as it did in the beginning but it's still uncomfortable.  It now only hurts when he goes in and then after a minute or two it feels better.

I think it's more of a 'the more you do it the less it hurts' thing.....but who wants to do it when it still hurts?  I had a 2nd degree tear too, but it's all  healed.  I just think there was a lot of trauma down there and it needs time.  Like a few months time.  GL!

  • The first time we tried was about 8.5 weeks PP. It hurt so badly I pushed him off me. It's gotten much better. Now only certain positions hurt, and we sometimes need to use lube.

  • It still hurts when he first enters...so he goes really, really slowly.  Eases it in, works it slowly for a bit, and then we're good.
  • It hurt alot at first (reminded me of the first time I ever had sex) but it's gotten better, just takes time.  Now it only hurts when things get a bit rough, but I just tell Hubs to back off a bit and thankfully he understands.

  • I had a c-section, and it still hurts for me! No tears, or anything like that to worry about. I think everything just got super tight down there. Lube helps. And I think like PPs said, the more you do, the easier it gets. I can't say I am really enjoying it yet, but I look forward to the time that I do.

  • I had a vaginal delivery (with episiotomy) and got the ok from my OB at 5w PP. We finally did the deed at 13w and some days PP- it was SO sore I was almost in tears everytime we tried.  But my best advice is become BFF with lube and keep trying bc it got less and less sore to where I finally felt comfortable enough to go the distance :)  And had a surprisingly good time!

  • For me, I started to enjoy it around 8 weeks...We attempted the first time at 5 weeks and it really hurt. I had a vaginaly delivery, I had a 2nd degree tear. But we just kept trying and now it's great!!

  • I definitely think it's a 'gets better with time' sort of thing. The first few times were rough. I think I started really enjoying it after the 5-6th time.
