Our 5 year anniversary is coming up, and I no ideas what to get for DH. Any suggestions?
I keep thinking of practical things - clothes, new wallet, etc. but I think that's just it - too practical.
The only thing I can come up with is a new watch (a nicer one) with something engraved on the back.
Re: NBR: Anniversary Gift
We do traditional gifts each year. 5th year is wood. I got DH a beautiful wood framed photo of us for his office (he kept asking for one) and DH got me beautiful wood hangers for our closets (I know that sounds like a weird gift, but it was about $500 worth of hangers).

they have a lot of really need personalizable gifts- a lot of wood too!
For our 1-year, I got my husband a magnum of wine from the winery we were married at, and it was engraved with our names and wedding date. I'm assuming you didn't get married at a winery, but a nice bottle of wine (engraved or not) could be special or a special bottle of champagne, scotch, whatever. My husband is a big scotch fan so he would be so excited by that.
Or, is there a memento from where you went on your honeymoon that he would like?
Other ideas:
- gift certificate for couples massage
- nice dinner out at a special restaurant, maybe one that you went to in the very early days of dating?
- what about a framed photo of the two of you with your names and engraved with something like, "Jim and Kay, Established Sept 15, 2005"
I bet he would like something "mushy" more than you think he would. Good luck!
We, too follow the "traditional" anniversary gift giving guide and are celebrating our 5th year next month. I'm giving DH a really nice, wood carving/cutting board with our family name branded into it. We BBQ/Smoke nearly every weekend so I know he'll LOVE it!
It's sort of a joint gift since it's so expensive.
You could also do something less obvious like a cologne with wood undertones!
What about a dinner cruise on a boat (made of wood) one evening or taking a cruise to celebrate?
Patio furniture?
Wooden valet (those trays to put his wallet, keys, change in by the door or his bedside)?
If he likes to read, maybe a book mark?
Good luck!!!
