baby flutters

Hi Ladies.

I am 18 weeks along, and started feeling baby flutters two weeks ago. But, this week, it seems like one day I feel baby move a lot, and then the next day, I don't feel baby move hardly at all. I don't know if it's the hormones or what, but it's got me all nervous. For those of you who have started to feel baby move, what is it like for you? Is it pretty constant? Or random, like mine?

Re: baby flutters

  • I posted on the 2nd tri board today about this.. because I can't tell if it's flutters or gas or what.. but i guess Im around the time where i can start feeling movement.. it's never constant.. and i actually really only notice it when I'm sitting still or laying still.. and I don't notice it everyday.. I'm not worried :)

I'm still not believing it's movement.. I feel like I'm queen of all gas and that's what i blame everything baby related to :)

  • Is this your first PG? For my first I didn't feel the baby until I was abt 19-20 weeks along. This time I've had flutters for the last couple of weeks, but no big movements just yet. They say your body type may make a difference, but I normally carry all my weight in my bum and have a flat belly, but doesn't seem to matter. I freaked out last time like you lol. Have you had your anatomy scan yet? My fluids were a little low last time and they said that may have been why I didn't feel much movement early. No worries!! I'm sure your lil one will be kickn soon enough :)

  • Yeah. I probably shouldn't be worried. =)

At this point, I feel pretty sure of when it's gas, and when it's baby. The other day I started feeling baby "roll" (that's the best way I can describe it), so I am wondering if the reason I am worried is because now that I've felt the baby "roll" I tend to only consider the baby to be moving when it "rolls" instead of paying attention to the little flutters that I felt before the rolling started. If that makes any sense at all...gosh. haha. I am probably just being dramatic.

Any common circumstances or encouragement welcome!

  • It's too early to be feeling movement consistently.  No need to be concerned.

  • I am still very early but I feel them every once in awhile, usually after I eat or lay down. It is so sporadic. Sometimes I go days without feeling it, others I feel it 2-3 times a day. I would not be worried.

  • Don't worry! My doctor said most women don't feel consistent, every day movement until 24 weeks. She said not to worry if I go a day or two without feeling the flutters.
