We are mounting our TV this week, over our fireplace. Any suggestions of where to put the boxes? The wires will all be behind the wall so I just need to tell them where to run them. They suggested a closet but we are tight as is.
Ideally I'd like book cases/shelves on either side of our fireplace. I should note that I am a bit OCD, so whatever I decide will have to be symetrical (I cannot have one cabinet on just one side of the fireplace or I will need Prozac)...
Any suggestions?
PS: I don't have a pic of our room but it's basically a fireplace in the center of the wall, with a mantle with cathedral ceilings.

Re: NTTCAL related: Mounting a TV
The mantle is too skinny. I was thinking either ladder bookcases
or either side or this with the back out

I like the ladder shelves better which is funny because I actually have the 3 of those traditional bookcases (they look just like the ones I bought at Target).
I am glad you can't put them on the mantle...I like to hide anything electronic that I can! Could you get something like a tall glass curio? My entertainment center has glass doors and I like that a lot.
I don't know if you will see this or not, seeing as this is an older post, but I was just looking in the new IKEA catelog yesterday and there are some really cool looking (clean looking) shelving units etc. Some have sliding doors etc. Just another option.
We mounted ours in our new house but we have built-in cabinets on both sides of the fireplace. The previous owner did the same thing, so we had holes already drilled in. In case you haven't thought of this (and it may be too late), the TV can be a little high when mounted above a FP. In our case it works because our furniture is kind-of loungy, but if we had a standard sofa, I would probably find myself looking up constantly which may be hard on the neck.
Good luck!
