Peeing during night (you, not your kids)

How many of you get up at least once per night to pee (non-pregnant)? I saw someone else say they pee at least twice per night. I have for years, and it's so freaking annoying. I would love a solid 8 hours of sleep, just once. Did it start before or after having kids?

  • only when I am pregnant...maybe I don't drink enough water, though.

  • These days I always do, but it's because my infant wakes me up and then I usually have to go then. Not sure if I could make it a whole 8 hours or not. I think I would on occasion, but for the most part usually have to get up once.

  • Everyone seems to be on the 4am pee schedule in my house.  My dogs always seem to need to go out about then.  When DS, hears the dogs, he wants to get up so then I have to tend to him.  And once I'm standing next to his crib soothing him, BAM!  It hits...I stand there bouncing up an down and doing the pee-pee dance until I can get DS back to sleep.

If my dogs don't need to go out, everyone sleeps peacefully and pee-fully until 7am or so.

  • I think I was up 3 or 4 times last night.  Usually, I get up at least once or twice.  I am horrible about drinking a lot right before I go to bed and then drinking more everytime I get up to pee.

  • I usually go twice, once is always due to someone else waking me up, though.  It just started after the twins....and also drink a majority of my water after about 6 p.m., when I have more opportunity to sit and relax.

  • I have to go in the middle of the night about 50% of the time.  If a kid wakes up then I definitely have to go.  But I started having to do this before kids, after I had a really bad UTI.

  • maybe once a week I'll have to get up one time...and I can usually attribute it to drinking a lot of water before bed.

    So, pretty much never.

  • I do now (I'm pregnant), but I did when I wasn't pregnant as well.  It started soon after college, and I really think it's because I'm staying more hydrated now than I did at that age.

  • Non-pregnant - 2x per night

Pregnant (right now) 5-6x per night

MH keeps telling me I have an overactive bladder - I think it's because I drink more than 100oz of water per day usually.  I love water.  If I didn't drink so excessively, I think it'd be less likely I'd get up 2x per night, which is why I don't think I have a bladder issue.

  • I drink a ton of water, too, so I'm sure that's my issue.
  • OK seriously, ME

I even built a new house because when dd was born (in my old house) I moved my bedroom upstairs to be near dd.  My master and the bath were downstairs.  I was so sick of going up and down the stairs more than 2x per night.  We ended up building a house with all bedrooms on the same floor and a lovely master suite.  Much quicker to get to the bathroom.

  • Pregnant, usually once, sometimes twice.  Not pregnant-rarely!  I miss that.
  • I drink a ton of water and pee all day. I can usually hold it all night unless I'm up if something else wakes me up first (kids, dogs, cat). I'm a light sleeper so it doesn't take much to wake me up. Once I'm awake though, I HAVE to go or else I can't fall back asleep.
  • I have always gone once per night as long as I can remember.

I started going 2x+ per night once I had DS. I agree with GHM that getting up multiple times to pee at night is so freaking annoying!

  • I think that I don't drink enough water during the day. I generally down a bunch of water before bed now and then wake up to pee and drink some more. It was probably twice a night when I was pg. Now when I wake up all the way to change Charlotte, then I realize I have to pee and need to go to the bathroom. If I only half wake up to feed her (we cosleep/bedshare), then I don't need to get up.
