Is anyone else completely shocked at the price of daycare around here?  I always knew it would be expensive, but I signed DD up for daycare at U-Gro (on East Shore) and I almost died when she told me $250/week -- that's almost a 2nd mortgage for us a month!!!  I'm okay paying it because it was the only center I visited that I felt 100% comfortable in, and it includes lunch, plus it's 5 minutes from work so I can stop in at lunch to see her and breastfeed (if I'm still sticking with it by the time she starts day care!).

I was so surprised at how early I had to look and enroll as well - the owner said people are looking almost when they get their BFP's!  I got the last March slot for DD, and I went at 15 weeks!  Jeez!

Just curious how you girls feel about it!

    I feel pretty lucky that we do not have to put our LO in DC.  The prices are outrageous!!!

    I was shocked by the price of daycares when I was PG with DS and looking for childcare. We ended up using an in home provider, which was great for us, and paid $125 a week. She's getting ready to move. We had signed him up at U GRO (East Shore) and it would've been $222 a week. Talk about price shock! But, like you said, we loved the daycare and it was the only center we visited that we felt comfortable with. However, since that time, we've moved, and the location isn't nearly as convenient for us. We happened to come across a lady two minutes from our new house that is an in home daycare provider, and really like her. He actually starts tomorrow. We'll be paying $150 a week, and it includes lunch.

    Yeah, it's insane!  We decided to send our 2 year old daughter to Goddard 3 days a week and it will be $131/week for the 1st six months.  Yikes!

    I send my daughter to U-Gro as well. I was shocked at the price but let me tell you, they are worth every dime. I love them there.

    So glad to hear this!  It's super convenient for me from work - only 5 minutes away - and I love that I can stop in and see her at lunch time!
