Babies: 3 - 6 Months

What am I doing wrong?

At our pedi's suggestion we started feeding him purees at lunch and dinner time. His schedule is pretty much the same every day. Up at 9 am, bf every three hours, lunch is between noon/1 pm and dinner is at 7/ 7:30 pm.  It isn't a big dinner feeding maybe an ounce of a veggie. He then gets a bathe, book and feeding. Matthew is usually out like a light by 9 pm. The last few nights he is up at 1 pm and wide awake for an hour or two. He wants to play.

His nap schedule has remained fairly consistant. He falls asleep after bf around 2 pm for an hour. Next nap is between 4/5 and he will sleep anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. I am starting to think his last nap is too late in the day. I have no idea how to shorten it or get rid of it. WDYT?

  • Maybe the solids at dinner are giving him an extra kick of energy?  I'm not sure, sorry!

  • Well every baby is different but I would think that it shouldn't matter too much, if that nap is at 4pm or 5pm. Alexandra goes to bed at 7pm and sometimes, the way the nap schedule falls, she HAS to nap at 5pm. I usually don't let it last longer than forty minutes though, and then bedtime will be pushed back by like 30 minutes to compensate. I would investigate moving his bedtime to earlier, as 9pm is kinda late, but then you do get that 9am wakeup, where we get one at 6am. :)

He has been waking up around 1 am for a feeding and is then up for an hour or two. This is new. I was wondering if there is something that I should try to change like his nap schedule or night feeding. Just looking for suggestions.
