Crab legs

I cannot find a reputable site, that says we can have crab legs. SO wants to see proof... not yahoo answers... that I can eat them and will be fine... if not, no crab legs for me tonight :(. So, do you ladies have a good website that says we can eat them? I can't even find anything on the bump.

Re: Crab legs

  • Have you found anything that says you shouldn't eat crab legs?  I've had them plenty of times and everything is fine.

You can have crab. Just don't eat it every day for every meal.

  • I specifically asked my doctor this because I LOVE crab and usually go to a local crab place once a month for my fix.  He said once a month or so is fine.

  • I hadn't found anything that says we shouldn't but seafood is like the only food he is afraid for me to eat and he jsut wanted me to find a confirmation site or call the doc to be sure on crab legs, and he is fine with shrimp now but the whole "shellfish" thing bothers him cuz he worries what is defined as a shellfish when crabs have shells... he's really cute about it lol.

  • Everything I read says that crab & shrimp are both perfectly fine as long as your not eating mass quantities on a daily basis as PPs said.  Being robbed of my lunch meat is hard enough, I would die if I couldn't get my shellfish in.
  • I'm a little late to the crab party, but here is a site that lists the safest fish to eat. It was recommended in the book "Expect the Best: Your Guide to Healthy Eating Before, During and After Pregnancy" published by the American Dietetic Association.

The FDA also lists methylmercury levels for a many types of fish on their site. Crab is considered to have lower levels of mercury.I made it a tinyurl for posting.

    Enjoy that crab!

I see, I've had to prove things to DH like that too!  It is cute when they're so concerned.
